Little Chief of the Northern Cheyennes,

Quite an excitement prevails amoog our
people by the shooting cf Little Buck, an

Vt. Marks. The facts are as follows: Mirks
came upon Little Boca, who is wanted at
Fort Smith on a charge of horse stealing,
nsir Rarnettsville. Cherokee Nation, and or
dered him to surrender, whereupon Little
Buck drew a butcher-knife and started to
ward Marks, saying at tbe same time that
he would die before he would surrender
Marks drew hii pistol and fired. Little
Buck is a nottd thief and has been on the
scout for some time. He has also ssid that
he wanted to kill one marshal, then he

Uncle Joe (Jill, an old colored man in this
town, experimented this season in a small
way, in cotton raiting. He planted several
rows in the garden, and permitted it to grow
as best it could without cultivation or atten
tion. It has grown well, and is now mature,
and ia said to be ss fine and healthy as any
rsised in the South. We have no doubt but
this crop can be successfully raised here, and
would urge the farmers to try a small piece
of ground next spring. It is worth the effort,
and may prove a profitable experiment

The aheep interests are begining to loom
up in this county. Farmers in all parts of
the county are fast realizing that wheat and
corn are not the only staples that can be
profitably handled ia this country. Cattle
and sheep and especially the latter pay large
prom mat are mucn surer than pronu in

A 13 year old girl, of Tombstone. A.T.,
told her father that in passing a Mexicsn
camp she bad been insulted by a boy. A
mob was gathered which proceeded to the
ctmp and compelled the Mexican to whip
the boy to death. 1 be girl subsequently
said the story was just told for fun, and now
trouble is feared.
