THE CHAUFFEUR TELLS STORY Leach Testifies That He .Drove Frltch to Ecorse Creek With Three Sacks Which Were Thrown Into Water. Detroit, Mich. After Chauffeur Jo seph W. Leach had testified in police court that on thenight of August 27 he drove Dr. George A. Fritch from the physician's office to Ecorse creeit, where the doctor threw Into the water three sacks, which they had taken from bis office, Dr. Fritch was held for trial in the recorder's court on the charge of manslaughter In connec tion with the death of Miss Maybelle Millman of Ann Arbor. Miss Mlllman's body was found in three sections In sacks In Ecorse creek and the lower Detroit river ear ly In September. The body bore evi dence, the police and county physi cian were satisfied, that a criminal operation had been performed or attempted. Justice Jeffries fixed Dr. Fritch's ball at $10,000 with two sureties. This is a reduction of $5,000 In the ball which was fixed for the physician when he was arrested. Chauffeur Leach on the stand said he responded to Dr. Fritch's call for an automobile early In the evening of August 27; that the doctor told him he was In trouble and needed a friend and asked hira about accessible deep water. C The Browns ville' court of inquiry decided to visit Brownsville, Texas, late In November to hear any new material facts bear ing on the famous shooting up of that city on the night of August 13, 190fi. Every reasonable opportunity will be given the discharged non-commissioned officers and men of the Twen ty-fifth regiment of infantry to prove they were not engaged In the riot. with a view to their re-enlistment In the army should they desire to take ad vantage of the offer contained in the act of congress creating the tribunal. The court will follow up the Browns ville hearing with a similar proceed- ng at Washington. The ves sel apparently is not damaged. TRAGEDY ON FARM. Frank Morris, a Wealthy Farmer, Shoots Wife and Then Kills Hlmseir. i Cedar Point, Kan. Having Instant ly killed his wife with a single charge from a double barreled shotgun, Frank Hlorrls, a wealthy farmer living about three miles from this place, threw the gun aside when the other barrel miss ed fire, secured another from the bouse and deliberately shot himself through the head, falling dead beside his wife. The tragedy occurred In the door yard of the home, and was wit nessed by the two little daughters, 5 and 13 years of age. The cause of the shooting Is large ly surmise. Morris is known to have been despondent over the death of a son, which occurred less than a year ago. there is also known to have been domestic trouble in the borne which had caused a number of quar rels between him and his wife.
