The following Circular from the War Depart
ment, Washington, D. C, is published for the
information and guidance of all concerned :

Washington, June 20, 1864.
Persons not fit for military duty, and not
liable to draft, from age or other causes, have
expressed a desire to be personally represents
ed in the army, in addition to the contributions
they have made in the Tray of bounties, thev
propose to procure at their own expense, and
present lor cuusuneni, Tecruits to represent
them in the service. Such practical patriotism
is worthy of Epccial commendation and en
couragement. Provost Marshals and all other
officers ncting under this Bureau are ordered
to furnish all the facilities in their power to
onlist and muster promptly the acceptable rep
resentative recruits presented in accordance
"With the design herein set forth.
The name of the person whom the recruit
represents will be noted on the enlistment and
descriptive loll of the recruit, and will be car
ried font ard from those papers to the other
offioial records which form his military his
tory. Suitably prepared certificates of this person
al representation in the service will be forward
ed from this office to be filled out and issued by
Provost Marshals to the persons who put in
representative recruits.

District Court, sitting within and for the coun
ty of Davis, and others attached thereto for
judicial purposes, in the State of Kansas, in
favor of Charles Willemsen, as administrator
of the estate of John Fitzgerald, deceased, and
against John S. Johnson and J. E. B. Stuart,
and to me directed and delivered, I will on
the 6th day of September, a. d., 1861, at two
o'clock, p. m. of said day, at the door of the
court house in the city of Junction, offer for
ale at public auction, all the right, title and
interest of tho said John S. Johnson and J. E.
B. Stuart in and to the following described
lands, to-w it: the north half of the south-east
quarter and lots two and three of section 23.
in town. 11, south of range six, east of the
sixth principal meridian, in Davis county,
Kansas, coutaing 145 10-100ths acics of land,
according to tho U. S. Government survey
thereof, and appraised at five dollars per acre.

House in the town of Abilene, on the 5th day
of September, A. D. 1804, at one o'clock P.M.

claim of said John P. Swinson, in and to the
following described real estate, to-uit: lots

In the District Court of the Third Judicial
District of the State of Kansas, sitting in
said county of Davis:
William S. Field, Paintiff, ") You, the above
Lewis Wingfield, Defend' t. named Lewis
Wingfield, the defendant in the above entitled
suit, are hereby notified by-publication hereof
being made in the bMOKT Hill axd Republi
can Vsios, for six consecutive weeks, that the
above named plaintiff, William S. Field, has
filed his Petition in the above entitled suit,
against you, in the above mentioned Court,
wherein said suit is now pending, the object of
wuicH, una me prayer ot said Petition, iB, for
said plaintiff to recover judgment against you
for the sum of one hundred and ninety dollars
together with interest thereon at the rate t of
twenty per cent per annum from the 13th dav
of October, A. D. 1860, due and owing to him
from you on that certain promissory note,
dated of the 13th day of October, A. D. I860,
by which you promised to pay twelve months
after the date thereof to said plaintiff or order
the sum of one hundred and ninety dollars,
with interest thereon at the rate of twenty per
cent per annum from the date thereof until
paid, and for the Court to find the amount due
said plaintiff on said promissory note. And,
also, to foreclose a certain mortgage deed
whereby you, on the 13th day of October, A.
D. 1860, in order to secure the payment of said
promissory note-and the sum of money therein
specified, conveyed to said Plaintiff the follow
ing described tracts of land situate. lvinsr and
being in the county of Davis and State of
ivansas, namely : The South-west quarter of
the South-west quarter of Section number
Twenty-seven (27), and the North half of the
said South-west quarterof said Section number
Twenty-seven (27), and the North-east quarter
of the South-cast quarter of Section number
Twenty-eight (28), all in Township number
Twelve (12), of Raigc number Seven (7) East
of the Sixth Principal Meridian, which said
deed was and is subject to a certain condition
thereunder written, whereby it was and is
provided that if you, your heirs, executors or
administrators should well and truly pay or
cause to be paid to the said plaintiff, his heirs,
executors, administrators or assigns, the said
sum of one hundred and ninety dollars, with
interest thereon at the rate of twenty per cent
per annum from the said 13th day of October,
A. D. 1860, until paid, according to the condi
tion of said promissory note, that then said
deed and note should cease and be null and
void; and that said tracts of land be sold, and
the proceeds arising from such sale thereof be
applied to the payment of such judgment and
the costs of this said suit, and the amount
found due said plaintiff on said promissory
note ; and that you and every person claiming
under you be forever barred and foreclosed of
and from all and right and equity of redemp
tion and ofher right whatever of, in or to said
tracts of land, from and after such sale there
of and that said plaintiff may such other and
further relief in tho premises as the nature of
his case may require and he be entitled to, &c.
And, the said Lewis Wingfield, are further
hereby notified, that you are required to an
swer said Petition on or before the 23d day of
September, A. D. 1864, and that unless you
answer the same on or before the day last
named, said Petition will be taken as true and
judgment rendered accordingly.

will take notico that Cyrus M. Fisher, of the
town of Vergennes. in tho State of Vermont,
did, on the 6th day of July, A. D. 1864, file
his petition in the 3d. Judicial District Court,
sitting.within and for the county of Davis (t
al attached, for Judicial purposes), in the Stato
of .Kansas, against the said John W. Bafhore,
and S. M. Strickler, defendants, setting forth,
that the said John W. Bashorc gave a Mortgasr
to the said Cyrus M. Fisher on lots numbl
twelve and thirteen of Section six, and ILot
number one of Seven, in township eleven.
South of Range five, East, situated at the time
said Mortgage was given in the county of Ri
ley, Kansas, now in the county of Davie, State
of Kansas, to secure the payment of one hun
dred and eighty and 10-100 dollars, with in
terest thereon from the 24th day of August,
A. D. 1859, at the rate of three and one-half
per cent per month, according to a certain
note referred to in said Mortgage ; and that
since the giving of said Mortgage the said other
defendant claims some interest in said lands.
And praying that said premises may be order

Notice is hereby given that by virtue of an
Urdcr of Sale, issued out of the Third Judicial
District Court, sitting within and for the coun
ty of Davis, and others attached thereto for
judicial purposes, in the State of Kansas, in
favor of Charles Willemsen, as- administrator
of the estate of John Fitzgerald, deceased, and
against Charles Berger and Joannah Berger
his wife, and to me directed as Sheriff of said
Davis county, I will, at the door of the court
house in Junction City, on the 5th day of Sep
tember, a. D. 18G4, at one o'clock, p. m. of saioj
day, offer for sale at public auction all the
right, title and interest of the said Charles
Berger and wife in and to tho following de
scribed real estate, to-wit : the north half of
south cath quarter and south west quarter
south east quarter and south east quarter JSI
south west quarter of section fourteen in town
ship twelve, south of range six, east of the
sixth principal meridian, in Davis county,
Kansas, containing one hundred and sixty
acres of land, according to U. S. Government
survey thcteoand appraised at eight dollars
per acre.
