The Public Forum Editor of the Morning Journal: Through your valuaok- paper I take the liberty of nddressing the gentle men of the evening paper which ap pears to have a particular penchant for announcing every day In the week, heralded by capitalized headlines, misdeeds by the hand of various Ital ians: Tuesday night thl.s' paper made room In its columns for three articles entertaining the good people of Albu querque with stories of Italian crim inals. To read this paper people would think that every electric chair, penitentiary and reformatory in the United States i- a toy for Italians only, since other nationalities are never or very seldom honored With such a gratuitous advertisement. It Is with a feeling of proudncss that 1 ask the gentlemen of the evening paper if they are acquainted with the industrious, honest, prosperous; Italian colony of Albuquerque. I will an swer that they must say, no. If they knew how to appreciate this Italian colony they would know the value of every other Italian colony not only in the Vnited States but In the world. They would then be more judicious in their selection of a sen sation to publish in the paper. If it is the purpose of these gentlemen through their paper to discredit the good name of Italians here or else where they make a big mistake. Crim inals have no country, and if, as I think, I interpret the feelings of my countrymen here, I would say that we Italians ought not to patronize a paper like the evening paper now published in Albuquerque. Thanking you, Mr. Kdltor, I nm, very truly jours, DR. XACAMULI. Albuquerque, X'. M., Xov. 23. A Wreck Discovery Device. Ernest H. AV. Crnssley of Melbourne has invented a device concerning ocean navigation which ho describes In a paper of that city. It is claimed that the invention will indicate the location of a wrecked vessel, the date when It met with tho disaster, the depth at which the wreck lies, and also the course that the vessel was taking and the port that it was mak ing for when it met with disaster. The apparatus, which is in the form of h lauoy, is released automatically from the bridge deck when the vessel meets with disaster and a wire attach ment holds it over the spot where the v-essel disappears. The apparatus would prove useful, the inventor claims, should a vessel become help less in mid-ocean through an accident to her machinery, as specially float ing "messengers" could be s.-t adrift prevailing: currents.
