THE ALBUQUERQUE MORNING JOURNAL, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 5. 1911. F IIAI1GE ID COMMERCE Wall Street Xovv York. April 4. Price move meats wire narrow on the market to day except in the case of a few, b-sucs which apparently were especially se 1 eted for manipulation to lend some appearance of animation to the mar ket. Almost the only consistent move ment of the day was the advance of railroad stocks which would be af fected most directly by the conclusion of a reciprocity agreement with Can ada. The Hill stocks were especial ly strong. Canadian Pacific twined four points more, advancing; to a new high record. The outlook for general industrial conditions was left unchanged by the day's developments. Complete fig ures of March hank vleurings over the country revealed a decrease of 10:5 per cent from last year, due not only to slownes of trade, but to the small demand in New York for fi nancial operations and speculative purposes. National Biscuit was unusually ac tive and advanced five points to an other high record. Associated Oil dropped four points on authoritative denial of the report that it was to be purchased from Southern Pacific by ImportNnt Interests. The general list hardened somewhat in the final dealings and closed with a preponder ance of small gains. It Is certainly more blessed to give than to receive. The pastor of one of our great churches decided to take tip a Sabbath morning offering, ono isle at a time, nnd then announce tint gifts before proceeding; to the next lide. A hymn was sung while the olfering was being taken. The minister open ed the envelopes. From one of them ho took no money only a slip of paper, fin it was written; "It grieves me that I can give no money. I was near tempted to bitterness when the thought clime that I could offer n prnyer. I closed my eves and said: 'May It be the hapny portion of some one' to give a double amount, since 1 can give none. 1 believed the words which he spoke: ' Is thy faith; be It thou will.' There was a hush, then a Woman In the next section, who had nlready prepared her envelope, tremblingly tore It open, shook out two quarters and a dime, and In their place; and tucked in two twenty-dollar bills. On a slip of paper she wrote: "To go with the envelope which held the prayer, from one who was tempted to rob God.' No one knew who this lady was. nnd the pastor, as he read it, Mopped and with tender emotion asked a spe cial blessing on the two who made heart offerings.
