M., Nov. 27. This city will soon have- a much needed modern postolVlce building. Several months ago the government decided to purchase a site for a federal build ing. A prominent corner on Main street was selected and $20,000 paid therefor. Later it wns decided to keep the.. Bite for the time being and to lease a building for five years, pend ing the appropriation by congress of $250,000 tor the erection of a federal building. The temporary postoffice building Is now being put up by the Las Cruces Improvement company near the present building occupied by the postoffice. The I'nited States land office will occupy the second floor, while the postotilce will be located on the ground floor. The next fixtures for the postoffice have arrived and these will ho installed at once. It Is the intention to occupy the new quar ters by January 1. Postmaster Thom as Hrannlgan has been crumped In the old quarters, since the rapid growth of the business of the Las ruces office has secured its eleva tion to a second-class office.
