X. M Jan. 3. The .New Mexico College of Agri culture and Mechanic Arts, through Its extension department, is making some splenditl advances toward bring ing the workings of the college be fore the people, in a more definite and helpful way. The Farmers' Week is now on. (January 1-6) and many are taking advantage of the demon strations and lectures given this week at the oojlege. On the 11th of January a special college demonstration train, compos ed of six cars, hearing exhibits, live stock and lectures, will start from Mesllla Park, X. M., and will practic ally cover every section of the state through which the Santa Fe railway runs. To see these exhibits and detn oiiKtrntloris, and to hear the lectures will be a great opportunity for every body. It Is practically a college on wheels, and has something of interest for all. There will he two automobile cars fitted up for livestock and beef cattle, hogs and chickens. These will be exhibited and lectured about at every stop. Hetween the stock cars a flat car Is provided for lecture and demonstration purposes. This flat car will carry a number of fruit trees, showing the best method of pruning. Other demonstrations will be given on fruits and vegetables. Rxhiblts from all departments of the college agronomy, horticulture, irrigation, dairying, engineering, sci ence, cotnmer-lal, domestic arts, etc. will be seen In the large exhibit car. These will all be of interest, and the college men will take pleasure in ex plaining. The Irrigation section will have a miniature pumping plant in actual operation, which will be of spe cial interest to all concerned with the pumping proposition. Xext to the car of rxhiblts will ho a lecture car which will be used for organizing boys' anil girls' industrial clubs, where the schools are ready for them. This ear will also he used for other lectures in case of bad weather, and at night stops when no hall can be had for that purpose. In the rear a business car has been pro vided for the convenience of the lec turers and demonstrators, of whom there will be nine or ten. In nil there will he sixty-six stops, beginning with l,a Tuna in the Kin (irande valley on January 11th, at S a. m., and ending with Malaga, in the Pecos valley on January L'Hth, -nt 10:20 a. m. At earn of these stops there' will lie a lecture and demon stration, and an opportunity given for the people, to see. the exhibits. The train curries its special ii'fiv, and will arrive at and leave, stations on schedule time. If the people care to see and hear they must he at the sta tion promptly at the hour scheduled. At Ihe night stops, illustrated lectures will lie given where the towns pro vide halls fur Hint purpose. The tovvng will iln well to look after this matter. The county superintendents will add much to the effectiveness of the demonstrations if they will have all teachers, In districts near enough, to he at the train with a good represen tation of their older pupils ten years of age and upward.
