An nnalyHlM uf the trade IlKiirps )iulillKhed In the Miimnitiry of forelKn commerce shows that while Anieii 1'nii cotton, minernl oils, naval stores, lumber and agricultural Implements are In less demand abroad than in former years, there is a ureHter de mand in foreign countries for our IneadHtuffs, meuts, HiiKnr, clothinir und other manufactures, especially In Kurope. A citation of a few of the liiriter factors In our forelKn trade will Illustrate more dourly this fact. Export In NovhiIkm "Of breadstuff the November ex ports exceded in value $.40,000,000, or four times as much as In November, 1913, of commercial automobiles, the month's exports aKKregated $2,250, 000, or twenty-two times the value exported In November, 1913: of eggs, $1,200,000, or three times as much: of sole leather, $3,250,000, or eight times as much as in November a year earlier; of metal-working machinery and machine tools, nearly $2,000,000, or twice as much as a year earlier; of cotton-wearinfr apparel, $2,260,000, or ultiioBt three times the value for No vember, 1913; of chemicals, druKS and dyes, $3,250,000, or 50 per cent more than in November of the pre vious year; of cotton manufacturers, $5,500,000, or 30 per cent above the llKurcs of the preceding November; of men's boots and shoes, $1,250,000, un Increase of 60 per cent, and of cotton.seed oil, cake and meul, $2,500, 000, an increase of 50 per cent. Of special interest Is the remarkable growth in exports of refined sufiar and woolen goods, the former In creasing from $177,000 to $2,388,000 und the latter from $440,000 to $3, 04s, 000, when November, 1913, is compared with the corresponding month of last year. Striking t'lianes lit Trali "Striking changes in the move ment of specified articles to given countries during November Includo $1,000,000 worth of corn to the Netherlands, as analnst $4,000 worth, a year earlier; large increases in wheat shipments to tho United King dom, Italy, Uermany and France, in sums ranging from $7,000,000 down to $2,500,000; an increase of $1,750, 000 in automobile sales, to France, the month's total being nearly twice the amount shown In any complete lineal year; a doubling of tho export of copper to tho United Kingdom and an increase of 200 per cent In sales of automobile tires to England. Of metal-working machinery the . No vember exports to the United King dom exceeded $1,000,000 In value or nine times an much as a year earlier, and those to France nearly trebled. The United Kingdom also took over $3,000,000 worth of American sole leather, as aguinst less than $300,000 worth in November, 1913, and Ku rope as a whole bought $836,000 worth of boots and shoes, or four times us much as a year ago. British purchases of American beef exceeded $2,400,000, against loss than $40,000 in November of the prior year. tSSICIAL OISPATCH TO MOHNIN JOURNAL Kanta Fe, Jan, 22. Grent was the triumph won by a New Mexico girl, Miss Surah, Raynolds, daughter of Hon. Joshua Kuynolds, in her first Aumiican appearance us Aida at Los Angeles this week. Tuesday's Los Angeles Times prints her portrait and says: "Before a splendid audience, which it truth be told, went to scoff, and remained to applaud until the gird ers which to- Clune's orchestra vi brated like a snare drum, the National Grand Opera company, which, if all around merit counts, will henceforth be a permanent figure of Los An geles' musical life, made its initial bow to Ixis Angeles, presenting Ver di's masterpiece of the Nile, "Aida." And heading the east, bearing the brunt of the stupendous work, were two American girls, .Sarame Kainoldi, in the title role of the slave girl, and Miirgiirtirte Jarman, of Los Angeles, who interpreted the role of Amneris, daughter of the Kiryptian king and disappointed lover of the soldier hero, Hadames, whose love the slave girl, Aida, held until death, in the tomb beneath the public square sealed their tragic romance. For Miss Hay nolds there were splendid opportuni ties. In the dark, by the moonlit Nile, she was at her best; In fact, she excels in more subdued scenes." The Ileal Trouble. Many women are worried because their complexion has- become sallow and muddy. In trying to cover It up with face powder they make a bad matter worse. The real trouble is with the liver. Talte Chamberlain's Tablets and correct the disorders of your liver and your complexion will be greatly improved. Foreign selling was more of a factor In today's Ir regular market than at any time since the reopening of the London stock exchange. With today's offerings, li quidation from abroad, chiefly from London, was cull Minted at no less than 100,000 shares for the week. This comprised in large part such low priced railway issues as Krie, Mis souri, Kansas & Texas common a.id preferred, with an admixture of Atchison.-the raclflcs, Coppers and Unit ed States Hteel. Selling today had no appreciable .effect until the early afternoon when, aided by the aagresslva tactics or Hie bears, prices fell all around. Lowest prices were made In the final deal-, lugs, at which time virtually all gains were obliterated, with especial weak ness In Heading and several other leaders. Foreign exchange reflected the Ku ropean liquidation, there being heavy buying of finance bills against stock sales. Cables and drafts on London would huve broken sharply In the opinion of brokers but for the neutra lising effect of sales of commercial bills. Money rates made a new low range for almost u year, four- to six-month lonim belli made at 3 V4 per cent, Willie ovor-year money was offered on prime collateral at 4 per cent. This was In keeping with a further reduc tion of outstanding emergency cur rency and forecasts of tomorrow's bank statement which Indicates an other cash gain. An unexpected development of the day was the decision of the special master In the "West Virginia debt" rase, holding West Virginia liable for a larga share of Virginia's debt at the time Virginia seceded from the union. Virginia certificates rose sharply on the news, but later lost part of their gain. Missouri Pacific was again heavy, but no losa active, while the 6 per cent notes expiring June 1 sold at their highest In some months. In the absence of any definite announcement the rise was ascribed to buying by the proposed proxy committee. Bond sales increased in volume with higher prices for many Issues. Total sales, par value, were $., 243,000. Government bonds were negligible and unchanged on call. Chicago, Jan. 22. Disposition shown to question the accuracy of reported big new sales to Europe cut a figure today in overcoming a fresh advance in the price of wheat. The market closed easy, He-off to a shade up, compared with) last night. Corn gained to o net, and oats, a, six teenth to c. In provisions, the fin ish varied from 2c decline to a rise of 5c. Estimates current that heretofore unreported buying of wheat for Ku rope amounted to more than 800,000 bushels were doubted not because of lack of demand but because in the absence of country selling the avail able supplies not already contracted for wtre said to be so scarce thut In formation us to where the wheat was obtained was wanted. The Incredulity and the dearth of light were Indicated by the market in the last half or the day, receding lhio from the top iitf ures of the session. , Argentine storms delaying harvest and diminishing shipments were large, ly responsible for lilting wheat prices In the first hours or trading. Bullish sentiment was further Increased by assertions that France was again- buy ing. Corn sold at the highest figures so far this season, 7974i for May, but the market afterward reacted.
