The most im portant development of the day was the announcement made toward the clone, of the stock market that ar rangements had been made for plac ing a French loan in this country hacked by the llotliHchildH. Although definite JetiUIn were lucking the news wus of sufficient Interest to bring nlout a generul rally of quoted values from their early Irregularity, leaving a number of net gains. Foreign war conditions were re Honnible for the Inltiul heaviness and contrary movements. The success of the Austro-Oerman campaign against Ituwii.-i cauxed considerable selling of cur stocks for London and other Eu ropean interests with Canadian Pacific as the weakest feature. That stuck at one time showed a loss of four points, Its decline being- again arrom- panteu by rumor of a downward re vision of its dividend. Coal stocks showed no further ef fect of yesterday's decision of th t'nlted States supreme court which ordered a separation of the Delaware. Lackawanna and Western railroad from its coal subsidiary. In fact, Lack awanna, which is rarely traded In these days, made a gain of 8 points on sales of, only 200 shares, llarrlman and Hill Issues were firm to strong and New Haven and Its allied roads, New York, Ortnnio und Western also mov ed forward. Coppers were under Intermittent pressure, some disappointment being expressed at the moderate increase of Anaconda's dividend. Instead of the r0 cent quarterly rate it was hoped that the 75 cent disbursement of 1913 Would be restored. I'nlted States Steel again was the active fcuture but its ran go was narrow and without rna-U-rinl net change. Total sales of stocks amounted to 467,00ft shares. There wus a better tone to sterling and continental exchange, the Improve ment being mainly due to the pros pects for additional foreign financing here. Firmness ruled In bonds regardless of recurrent foreign offerings. Total Kales, par value, aggregated $2,378, 000. U. S. registered 4's declined per cent on call. June 22, Home little ex port buying brought about a uiilck rally today In the wheat market here alter a decline to new low prices for this year's crop. The finish was un settled at '.be off to o up compared with last night. Corn closed a shade to Wi)tc down ami oats off M to ft lie. In provisions the outcome varied from 2iic decline to a rise of 7 '4c. Revival of bullish sentiment In the wheat pit developed chiefly during the last half hour of the session when re ports were current that .'125,000 bush els of cash wheat had been disposed of here to foreigners and to eastern millers. Additional rains in Kansaa tended further to give the market strength. .- Supposed Improvement of harvest weather was responsible In the main for the downward swing of the wheat market before knowledge of export sales had become public and previous to advices of new storms in the south west, tin '.he decline the July option followed September to as low as 1.00 lor the first time tills season. Coinci dent with this break the price of flour was reduced 20c a barrel. Corn recovered to some extent with wheat. Argentine competition, how ever, and better domestic field condi tions proved to be more of a handicap than could entirely be overcome. Oats reflected the uction of corn. Crop reports were to the effect that the greater part of the yield in : the lig producing; sections would be late. Shorts buying lifted prices finally for lord and ribs. Pork, though, con tinued to show a weakness which all of the given list had suffered from earlier on account of unloading be lieved to be for packers.
