Memphis, Bcpu 3.-—Tho condition of oar city
to-day beggars description., While tho list of
new cases reported is only about sixty, the
death-rote baa amounted to eighty-six, only
two of whom were from other causes thau
yellow fever. Bodies were discovered today In
oul-of-theway places which have, from appear
ances, been dead several days*. Oue peculiarity
manifested among many of tbe sick la a desire
to seclude themselves, while among tbe poor
there is an unreasonable fear of being sent to
tbe hospital or Infirmary. Hence tho discov
eries of today.
Among new cases are tho Key. George C.
Harris, Dean of Bt. Mary's Episcopal Cathe
dral; the Her. C*. C. Parsons, Hector of St.
Mary's; Ur. 8. 11. Brown, L. Iglaucr, of Men
ken Bros.
Dr. A. K. Hodges is reported in a dying con
dition. Among the few convalescents is Kd
Worsam. Chief of Police Atby is reported con
valescing.
Dr. Dowell, ol Galveston, is hero doing good
service among the sick. Four physicians from
Charleston, 8. C., arrived to-day.
K. C. Jameson, correspondent of the St. Louis
Juurnn\ was conveyed to tho hospital to-day
sick wito lever. %

Father William Walsh, of St. Patrick's
Church, sends forth the following:
I appeal to all Catholic societies for aid. Three ■
