Traffic on the Montana, Wyoming & Southern railroad was delayed for a day or two last week on account of a wreck about three miles east of Bear creek. The engine known as "Old Three Spot" left here for Its usual trip to Bridger at 3:30 p. m. Wednes day with between 20 and 25 heavily loaded cars of coal. Engineer Garver, knowing that the track was in poor condition, held the train back, and at the time of the accident they were averaging about 10 miles an hour. While rounding a slight curve the engine began to shake, and before the train could be stopped the rails spread and let the middle cars off the track. One car was completely demolished and several others were left in poor condition. No one was injured, but the occu pants of the passenger coach got a good shake up and were pretty badly frightened. One of the passengers was sent back to Bearcreek on foot to notify the other 'train crew, which was expected at any time with a long string of cars, of the accident. The crew, composed of George Garver as engineer, Antone Ludwigson as fire man, and Dick Stage and Joe Buckley as brakemen, climbed on board the engine and went to Belfry for help. The wrecking train and crew came up immediately and worked most of the night to clear the track. All but two cars of coal were saved and only one baxcar was left to be burned, but the track is still unsafe. This is the third wreck *on this line within the last two weeks. The road has not been finished long enough for the grade sto be firmly settled, and every heavy rain causes the rails to spread or slip out of line. SNC(OOL FOIR FOREIGNERS. Prof. Thomas Conley of the Bear creek public schools has organized a night school for the benefit of the foreign population. The school will he open on Monday, Wednesday and r'iday evenings and a large member ship is expected. At present the class numbers only 25. This will he a great help to the foreigners, as many of them cannot understand English and but few of them can read or write it. BASKETBALL TEAM. Several of the old players here, among w\homn are Eben Kennison, Thad Pound, I. 3Mc Kinnon and Hawthorne, have been talking over old time. and they think that with a little practice they will be able to play as well as they used to, and that is saying a good deal. The dining room at the Lamport hotel will be used as a practice hall. NEW MEAT MARKET. Another meat market will be started in Bearcreek as soon as all the ma terial to be used in it has arrived.
