The shoes were displayed in front^of the store und in his hurry to steul them^White fuiled to notice that they were not^mutes. He took the shoes to a pawnshop^in East Park street and attempted to^sell them for $1. The pawnbroker^refused to buy them and White at last of^^fered them for 20 cents. The pawnbroker^refusing to make the purchase. White^started in to thump him. but became^frightened and ran away. Ollicer Leyden^was untitled and soon found the thief on^Galena street and placed him in jail.^White had been out of jail only a tew days^where he served a term for u criminal of^^fense.
