Adreadful calamity has overtaken the^ballot box thut contained the vote if^Castle on incorporation. It is now in^^hock^ in White Sulpher Springs. Il is^stated, that tins box when on its way^from here to the county scut was lost.The^fact was discovered on the arrival of the^exiirrss matter ut the springs, wheu a^man was immediately dispatched back to^recover the liex. It was found, and the^man claimed lor his hilMir the sum of (1^.^No one ut the springs had siilllcicnl inter^^est in maintaining the good name of^Castle, to pay the amount. So the man^^soaked'' the box with the First National^bank at the springs, to be delivered when^the amount was paid. As far as we can^learn, it has not been redeemed. We trust a^large number will procure seed and raise^some the coining season as an expert*^nient, und tin n if their cfT irts are^crowned with success, so fur as the culti^^vation is concerned, they will lie pre^^pared to undertake it uu a scale large^enough to warrant the construction of^suitable machinery for the iiiuiiufuctiiro^of sugar. If the crop cull be prolltably^cultivated here there is not a doubt that^there will be found plenty of capital to^invest their money in sueh a manufac^^tory. The Missouri valley, above and^below Townsend for half a dozen^miles, appears to MM the proper soil^for producing large rro;^^ of beets and^Townsend would lie a gotsl point for a^factory on account ot its aeeessabiltty.^There would lie no dillleulty in lindiiig a^borne market for all that could be made,^for the increase of population would keep^pace with the increased production.
