Memphis,June ls.-Judgo John Bright^Morgan of Hernando. Miss., was shot dead^this morning on an Illinois Central train^w hile on his way to Memphis, by Lawyer^Henry Foster. Morgan w as a delegate to^the Chicago convention.
Morganand Foster quarreled over a law^^suit iu which they were the opposing^counsel. Two weeks ago Foster hail^a tliluculty with Morgan's son, hearing of^w hich Morgan gave Foster a caning. They^had not met since till this morning. Foster^boarded the traiu at Aldon, shot Morgan^twice without uttering a word. He sur^^rendered to an officer at the next station.

Repartsof More Trouble la the^lug Cattle Country.^Omaha, June 18^A special to the Hen^from Buffalo, Wyo., suys: A tele-^grain to the sheriff from Sugg^says that Sugg was attacked last^night by 15 or li^ soldiers.^Two soldiers were killed and one citizen^wounded. Help was requested from tho^citicens. The telegram was signed^by Frank Morris, deputy snenff;^Jack Bell, marshal, and Hows, justice of^tho peace. Later information by courier^says that the soldiers arc tiring without^warning. The object of the attack is un^^known.

Captain Sampson, speaking of^surveying done by the United States^steamer Thetis for the route proposed for^a cable between the United States and tho^Hawaiian islands, said:
TheThetis left Honolulu two days Im^^fore I did and probably will reach San^Francisco to-morrow. Tho officers suc^^ceeded in laying a splendid line for tho^pro|MJsed cable. Three hundred sound^^ings were made and all were found to Im^very favorable. The deepest sounding^was about three and a half miles. Tho^lino was from Point Conception to Hilo.

Evory^point in the path of the storm has been^heard from. A conservative estimate^puts the number of killed at 5 instead of^50, as at first reported.
