THE ANACONDA STANDARD, SUNDAY MORNING, OCTOBER 2, 1892; Amusementand ^^)ioeF$ion BUTTE,Oct. 1.^John Maguire has a^collection of valuable autograph^letter* and other old and rare^curio* relating to actors and the theatrical^profession. One of the most valued is a^little old red card upon which is printed^the following, in a black county printing^office style: DramaticRr.Mity.us.^J. W. BOOTH.^Admit One. Onthe back of the curd is endorsed ^J.^W. D.^ in the handwriting or J. Wilkes^Booth, the assassin of President Lincoln.^The tickets were used by Booth during his^summer vacations previous to the assas^^sination wlieu he was going alioiit the^country giving readings. On one of his^trips he was going to Montreal and win* a^passenger on a stnamer that was wrecked^in the St. Lawrence river. Booth lost all^his |^ersnnal effects, and a trunk belong^^ing to him with his theatrical effects and^a number of his tickets of admission were^afterwards found along the shore of the^river. A friend of Mr Maguire secured a^number of the tickets and sent him one of^them some years ago. Mr. Maguire lost^that momento uloug with bis other collec^^tions in the opera house tire. When his^friend heard that the ticket bad beeii lost,^which he did only recently, be sent Mr.^Maguire another and ho values it very^highly. TheNest Alt ruction. LittleTippett,^ a farcical e imedy in^three acts by Alexandre Bisson. author of^^Wilkinson's Widows,^ ^The Nominees,^^^Lottery of Love.'' etc, will open a three^nights1 engagement at Maguiro's Thurs^^day night. The piece was given in its En^^glish form and dressing for the first time^in this country at the Boston Museum^June 6. Of the first production the Boston^Herald nay: It was an instantaneous^success. The English adaptation is by^Harry Edward Paulton. The play is said^to be the latest Parisian success. Judging^by some of the lines and situations in the^English version, as given last night, the^original must haro given the adapters a^little trouble. There is nothing,^however, to offend in Little Tip-^pott as given here, only marks-^of former viciousness are faintly die^cernod. The play rattlcs'along at a very^lively pace, and the interest is particularly^well sustained until the fall of the curtain.^The attrative quality is due to two reasons^principally^tho snappy dialogue and to^the fuet that the ultimate rexult of tho^complications, their unravelling, so to^speak, is not clearly evident until^near the close. Tho llrst act is^full of farcical speech and posi^^tions, the second mixes up things with u^vengeance, and the third, while it is ex^^pected to straighten out all crocked lines^and Ix-nt points, does so most ingeniously,^and is really very cleverly constructed.^The ilillleiilties of the leading characters^are occasioned by two divorces and remar^^riages and two real bullies, one that of^Austin Tippett by inn current wife, though^he thinks it is by the woman from whom^he has recently been separat ed, and the^other infant of the man and woman ser^^vant of the Tippett household. The lvalues,^parents, and supposed parents, get well-^High inextricably mixed, but ill the end all^is perfectly pro|icr and satisfactorily ad^^justed. As has been indicated, the lines^are witty, the story ingenious and well put^together, tho situations are comical, and^tho whole makes an excellent warm^weather cntertainmont. Dr..lekyll and Mr. Uyds. OnTuesday evening Dr. Nourso will^lecture at tho opera house for the benefit^of tho High school upon the subject of Dr.^Jekyll and Mr. Hide. Speaking of Dr.^Notirsc, tho Springfield, Mass., Hrpublican^says: ^Tho applause with which ho was^greeted as be came on to the platform^showed the impression ho made yesterday.^His lecture this morning was different in^character and style than that of yester^^day, but was even more liked. Although^tho humorous is not lacking, there is in^'Dr. 'Jekyll and Mr. Hyde' a strong cle^^ment of tho character, which Dr. Nourso^brings out in a striking way, whilo his im^^personation of tho two characters at the^climax of the lecture was very impressive.^He reminds ono much of John B. Gough,^in his manner and power of representing character. Theatrics!Gossip. McGinty'sTroubles^ are over as the^company collapsed last week. SamT. Jack was married to Emma^Wurde in New York Sept. 21. ItIs rumored that Miss Odette Tyler of^the Charles Froliinau company is soon to^be married to a Mr. Auer, a Wisconsin^millionaire, and retire from the stage. Itwould appear that there are more^Swedes in Minneapolis than ill Stockholm.^Tile Minneapolis city directory devotes^four pages to Yon Yonsons alone. TangledUp,^ the new and successful^comedy which shortly comes to Maguire's^with Louis De Lunge and Will S. Rising as^the stars, is said to be one of the clevorest^of the farcical plays of the day. It will he^preceded by a dainty curtain riascr en^^titled ^Why^ EugeneTompkins is so delighted with^his ^Black Crook^ experiment which cost^him SKI.OUO before the curtain was lifted^on the opening night that he is arrang^^ing a gigantic production of ^Babes In tho^Wood^ for Boston, to be subsequently^brought to New York. Thetitle of the new play in which Alex^^ander Salvini will be seen in the spring,^is ^The Heir of Gruiiiont,^ and not ^Fran^^cis II.^ as has been stated. It is a roman^^tic play of the 10th century with the scenes^laid in France. The piece was written by^Paul Lester under Mr. Salvini's super^^vision. AmyLeslie, the brilliant dramatic^writer of tho Chicago AVtrs, says: ^ ^Tan^^gled l'p* is a great deal better than 'Jane,'^'Lend Me Your Wife,' or any of the other^addled farces built upon the borrowed^baby theme.
