Fire group, was held at the St.
Ignatius public library, Saturday,
April 22.
Maude Gallup. Lois Ann Mahe
and Beverly Brown, who are do
ing Social Leadership, are in
charge of the reading hour and
will be assisted by other girls
of the Okihi group.

er, Saturday, and Sharon Orr as
sisted her.
The girls and boys of 4 to 8
years of age who were present
were Jeannie Orr, Scott Morton,
Tim Orr, Laurie Frey, Bobby
Brown. Toni Brown, Susan Mor
ton, Mike McPherson and Greg
Hurd.

head river will begin Monday,
J. E. Corette, president and gen
eral manager of the Montana
Power company, said Wednesday.
The tests arc being carried out
in support of the company’s ap
plication for a Federal Power
commission license.
A crew will arrive in the area
Friday to start the project, which
is expected to require about 45

set up. Any boy or girl from age
4 to 8 is welcome to come; there
is no charge. It will be held each
Saturday, starting at 2 p.m.

'rhe Flathead Tribal Council,
which owns the land at the sites,
has given the company permis
sion to make the drilling tests.
Several years ago the company
completed an exploratory exam
ination. The present tests will
complete much of the data ac
quired at that time.
G. M. Jones, construction man
ager of Montana Power, will be
the company’s representative on
the drilling project which will be
carried out by R. S. McClintock
company of Spokane. Bechtel
corporation of San Francisco is
doing the engineering.
Montana Power has filed an
application for a license with the
FPC on its proposed Flathead
project, including power dams at
Buffalo Rapids sites No. 2 and

of a retail liquor license from
WILLARD BOCKMAN to be used
at SILVER DOLLAR BAR, Lots

Ignatius, Montana, and protests,
if any there be, against the issu
ance of such license will be heard
at the hour of 10:35 o’clock A.M.,

Mrs Sidney Strong was
crowned queen for the after
noon at the organizational
meeting of the St. Ignatius Roy
al Neighbor of America held
last Thursday at the home of
Mrs Joseph Mahe jr. Mrs
Strong was presented the gifts
each member brought.
Mrs Laurence Decker was
elected oracle of Camp No.
B 628; Mrs George Blood, vice
oracle; Mrs Mahe. recorder
and receiver. Mrs Strong was
named chancellor for the ycaf.
Mrs Bob Bratton is the retiring
oracle.
Mrs Joy Lunligren, district
No. 4. Each would have installed
capacity of 120,000 kilowatts. The
company said each dam would
employ an average of 300 people
almost three years, giving a long
time boost to the area's econ
omy. Local labor will be hired
and supplies and materials avail
able locally will be purchased to
the extent practicable.
Time is important, according
to Corette. The company must
have new power by 1965.
“If the license cannot be ob
tained by the end of 1962, it will
not be possible for us to com
plete a Buffalo Rapids project by
the fall of 1965 and it will be
necessary, he explained, for us
to build a steam power plant
elsewhere on our system.
