Rumors.
Washington, June 20. there is a report in
circulation among a few Senators, and ap
parently unautbenticated, that the President
has tendered the place of Secretary of the
Treasury to Senator Morrill, of Maine, and
that the latter has the matter now under con
sideration. Morrill will neither affirm nor
deny the correctness of the report, and it is
believed to be true.
Ratification Meeting.
Detroit, (Mich.,) June 19.—A grand
Hayes and Wheeler ratification meeting was
held this evening. Rousing speeches, strong
)y endorsing the nominees of the Cincinnati
convention, were made by Governor Bagley,
ex-Gov. Baldwin, W. A. Howard, ex-Lieut.
Gov. Lee, of Ohio, and other prominent Re
publicans.

Iowa, Commissioner of the General Land

Louisville, June 19.—Bluford Wilson left
this city Saturday night last, and before go-
ing stated positively that he would immedi-
ately tender his resignation.

Washington, June 20.—Bluford Wilson,
Solicitor of the Treasury Department, sent in
his resignation to-day, to take effect July 1st.

Concord, (N. H.,) June 20.—E. H. Rollins,
Republican, was to-day elected United States
Senator.
