Marsh was a visitor to the Garden City the first of the week. Simon Greenfield is reported quite ill at the home of his sister, Mrs. Warren. Miss Carrie Miller and brother of Hagerman, Ida., are visiting relatives ot this place. D. H. Drost, who is interested in the lumber business, made a trip to Lo Lo Thursday. EJ. E. Cruger, leader of the Victor band, has resigned. H. A. MeLean, of Hamilton, is now in charge. Mrs. C. E. Scott, who has been at Gregson Springs for the benefit of her health, returned Wednesday much im proved. Mrs. R. G. Young returned Friday evening from Butte, where she visited her husband, who is superintendent of the Butte public schools. Mrs. T. J. Baird has rented her farm west of town to W. A. Poindexter. She will have a sale of her stock and household goads Saturday afternoon. H, R. Prent j, who has been at Gregson Springs for the benefit of his health, returned home Friday, finding a nine and a half pound boy in his home. The mother and child are doing nicely. J. E. Marvin, Irene Marvin, Stella Older, Flossie Williams and Swift Chamberlain were among the many who attended the dance at Stevens ville Friday night. STEVENSVILLE. Stevensville, Nov. 18—Clare I). May came up from Missoula the first of the week for a visit with home folks. Joe Brooks has gone to the Flathead reservation, where he will remain un til the reservation is thrown open. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Baker are ex pected back in Stevensville soon. Mr. Baker is in a hospital in Spokane, where he was seized with illness while returning from southern California. Rural delivery route No. 3, which embraces the Three Mile district, has been curtailed so that the carrier can make the rounds. Nearly seven miles have been clipped off the distance. The funeral of Burdette Johnson, the child who died from burns received from the explosion of a lamp, occurred last Sunday from the parents' home on Burnt Fork, Rev. Hughes speaking the comforting words of the service. The deat h of the child in so unfortu nate a manner has excited the sym pathy of the community. CORVALLIS. Corvallis, Nov. 18—The Baptist Ladies Aid met at the home of Mrs. 1>. R. Frogge last Tuesday. Their next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Newt. Whitsett. There was a moving picture^show in town Friday evening. Ed Gibbins, who was operated on last Tuesday, is improving. Mrs. Albert Strange spent several days in Missoula last week. Miss Katharine Haines was a Ham j]tpn visitor Saturday and Sunday. The barn on the G. L. Summers place was destroyed by fire Thursday night. Irvine Green has returned from a two years sojourn in Washington. He thinks that, after all, there is no place like the Bitter Root. A birthday surprise party was given at the home of Miss Lilia Hay Friday evening. About forty young folks were present and a good time was en joyed by all. Mrs. John Walker entertained the ladies of the Embroidery Club Thurs day afternoon. The ladies spent the afternoon sewing, after which delic ious refreshments were served. Padden and John Waddell were business visitors in town Wed nesday. Mrs. Warner Laird is enjoying a week's visit with Mr. and Mrs. Thos. W. Laird. Scott Garrison is down frotn his mines on the West Fork for a two weeks' stay. Floyd Neil and Percy Zeigler came in last night from their claims in the French Basin. . Mrs. John Holt, who has been sick for some time at her mother's home, is improving slowly. J. B. Overturf returned Sunday from Iowa, where he has been on a visit for the past month. Albert Wetzsteon and A. W. Vogt, of Sitla, passed through town Wednes day on their way to Hamilton. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lincoln, re cently of Kansas, have rented Tom Running's house and started a short order house. Milton Hammond intends closing his hotel in the near future. He and his wife expect to spend the winter somewhere on the'western coast. Complaint has been made against Rert Dixon as being of unsounrt mind. Constable Cantelon left Saturday for Jackson, Mont., in quest ot him, re turning Tuesday. They left W.d nesday for Hamilton, where Dixon will appear before a board of exam iners. Onr town is open to considerable improvement in more wavs than one. With this season of year there is more or less mud, and we are sadly in need of sidewalks. The people should also see to it that their premises are clean ed of all refuse matter for the winter, as more or less will collect in spite of the greatest care.
