Warr of this city, acting President of the Montana Brokers, could not attend the annual gathering which was held at Greit Falls last week, on account of urgent bus 1 ness, which detained him in Lewistown. W. A. Hedges has filed notice of the appropiation of 100 inches of water in each of two springs , viz. Myers spring and Hedges spring, in the vicin ity of Yale to be used for irrigating, stock and domestic purposes. Charles Lehman departed for Spo kane last week, where he will visit his brother, Fred Lehman, who is in business in the Washington town. Later he will extend his tour to the coast, expecting to be absent from the city for at least a month. Miss Myrtle Wright who taught the Delphine school near Martlnsdale during the summer, arrived In flie city to visit for a few days. Miss Wright is a popular teacher and will again have charge of the Utica school dur ing next winter. Mr. and Mrs. Kinney were in from Harlowton last Thursday shopping. Mr. Kinney is an engineer for the Mil waukee people, and has charge of some extensive operations on the Musselshell. Work, he says is pro gressing at a rapid rate, all along the road. W. E. Buck is conducting an in dustry new to Fergus county on a large scale and that is the hog raising business. Many improvements have continually been made on his ranch 6 miles south of the city and when those now contemplated are carried out, Mr. Buck will have a model hog farm in every respect. A large force of men began work on the Willow creek tunnel recently and the force of laborers all along the road is being Increased as rapidly as possible. Besides several largp tun nels which are to be built In that nei ghborhood, there is much heavy grud* ing to be done, as a large cut and fill are needed in crossing the Willow creek bottom. A great deal of colored help Is being imported from the South. Tho city has finally decided to pur chase the team of shapely broncti which Jeff Sherman offered to that city for $275. The horses are watt mated and well built, weighing ovar 1200 a piece. The animals are of a very docile disposition and no trouble is anticipated In training them forth* fire wagon.
