cost of living kecp them from
giving up too readily regular
pay checks, vacations and hol
idays with pay, sick leave, pen
sion benefits, Seniority Rights
and Absence Leaves. .
Getting employment in
transportation does not mean
that one must cease trying to
move ahead. Madsen was not
satisfied with his security and
transit ran k. The business
made him see better the value
of higher education. He found
time to attend St. John’s Uni
versity, and The College of the

Denies Clain of Man Who
Falls In Ditch Dug by Govt.
A claim for compensation made by James Williams
of Contant, who fell into an open ditch constructed
bv the government one night while on his wey home
from church, has been
denied by Governor de
Castro.
Mr. Williams, who is
over 70 years of age, was
bed-ridden for severl
weeks, and was unable to
work his farm, the sole
source of his livelihood.
The Governor who or
dered an investigation of
the case when it was re
ferred to him, said that
‘““the exercise of due care,
even in the absence of a
