Daniel W. Ambrose, who
was selected to serve as
Government Secretary of
the Virgin Islands after
several months of specula
tion and furious jockeying,
is resigned to his fate now
that the Republicans have
tak en over the White
House. The Government
Secretary is appointed by
the President of the United
S ates, but is not subject
to confirmation by the
Senate. :
A life-long Democrat
from West Virginia, Mr.
Ambrose got the post here

3 Volunteer Fire

at a meeting held by Gov.|
de Castro at Government!
House last week. Messrs. |
Albert Commissiong, Paull
Boulon Jr., and Helga Jep-|
pesen were designated de-l
puty fire chiefs. '
Speciat fire fighting
equipment has been assign
to each of these teams and
they will be responsible for
its operation. Training
classes will be conducted
and regular fire drills held
iin cooperation with the Fire
'Department regular per
'sonnel. :
It was also decided at
the meeting that the siren
fire alarm would be rein
stituted immediately, and
the fire siren signal will
be four steady blasts of all
the public sirens each with
in thirty seconds duration
with thirty seconds inter
vals.

Match Undecided
According to word ‘rom
London, Sugar Ray Robin
son is scheduled to defend
the world middle-weight
title against Randy Turpin
in London or Dublin next
June 9.
Much reaction was giv
en by Christenberry of the
New York Boxing Com
mission when told of the
match, for he argues that
14 months will b making
a farce of the rules which
requires champions to de
fend their titles every six
months.
. However, it is felt that
a Robinson-Turpin match
in the US. would be
settled for. .
