Mr. T. H. Williams has pur chased the house and lot owned by I. N. Wilcox and has sold the house to A. M. Bitter, who will keep hotel here. J. W. Mr. James Maddox is very low and not expected to recover. The protracted meeting held by Rev. Coffleld.at King's Chapel, resulted in tweniy-two conver sions. Rev. King's meeting is still progressing with prospects of accomplishing much good. The snow left the wheat in a flourishing condition. Dee Romlne's Hills. Mr. Wesley Davidson is now clerking for Post & Co. Mr. B. Davidson lost a fine horse last Saturday. Our young folks were enter tained a few nights ago by a mathematical contest between the Fall Run and Romine's Mills schools. A protracted moeting conduct ed by Revs. Hall, Meredith and Tetrick, has just closed with good results?Nearly sixty conversions at this and another meeting at our neighboring church, a mile below here. This has not been the worst place in tho world, but wo are expecting great improve ments. May the God of Heaven give sustaining grace and teach all that religion is for every day as well as Sunday and for sum mer as well as winter. Quite a lot of coal lands are being bought and all that can be secured, has recently been optioned for three or four miles above here. A few days ago it was currently reported that the railroad en gineers had come to the head of Bingamon Creek, and great ex citement prevailed; but they soon went away, taking two or three whiskey vendors along. You may not expect so many repre sentatives before the lirand Jury from the regions around Respect, (better known as l-Hen Peck.'') Marlon Counlr. Perhaps our worthy editor would appreciate an item from the oil field, Business is dull and work scarce, but fishers are in creasing in demand. Thomas Mitehel has moved two outfits of tools to Doddridge Co., and is fishing for the third set in an 1.800 foot hole. A. C. Gra ham is fishing in two holes the same depth. Kiser & At water abandoned a well last week on account of gas being strong enough to lift the tools from the hole. Charles Gerard Mad his eyes badly burned last week from a Hash of gas and has gone to his home in Now York. Mr. Smith had his foot mashed off Monday by a shaft wheel fall ing on it. Messrs. E. E. Ogden and C. L. Crile. of this place, were visiting at Prospect Valley last week. Amos, W. Va. Joy. Crlms. The people of this section have been attending a protracted meet ing at Keyser, and since it has closed they attend at Trinity. T. A. Stewart gave a "taffy pulling" at home, recently. All report a pleasant time. A few narrowly escaped an accident; Mr. Buel Tetter was driving a sleigh load of lads and lassies when his team, which was a high spirited one. suddenly became unmanageable and was about to dash the sleigh over precipice, but luckily the tongue broke and they escaped harm. MissByrdie Lawsoa gave an ovster supper at her home on the eve of the 4th, to a few of her select friends. Miss Byrdie is a charming hostess and knows how to entertain her friends, and it was not until the hour told that the Sabbath was approach ing that her guests dep irted. Several of the boys are taking the tobacco cure treatment. Mr. Jim Tetter is soiling a paten fence right. Grant Bailey was visiting rela tivesjhere on Sunday.
