Miss Laura Sommerville, ac companied by Mrs. Rufus Holden, of Kwgwood, left to-day for Bod kin Springs. The patientp at the Hospital passed a very pleasant Fourth. In the afternoon they were all taken out into the grove and a picnic heid. A large platform was erected and dancing and other amusements were engaged in. On last Friday Mrs. Abraham Gabbert died at the residence of herson in laws. Mr. Isaac Grif fin, at the age of 91 years, after a long sickness. The remains of her husband, who died cine years ago. were disinterred from the S. D B. cemetery and placed in the Odd Fellows' cemetery. The delegates being present and many more "white ribboners'- who were not regular delegates which made one of the largest conventions since eight years. There were present 5 District Presidents, 11 Supts. of departments of work, 4 State officers. The State carriers 16 different departments of work which were all represented ex cept 3 new ones lately taken. The committee on plan of work submitted the following recom mendation. First?That we recognize the fact that the foundation of all our work lies in the faithful practice of the gospel of Christ and be lieve that all the evangelistic lines of our work should receive even more attention than in the past. Second?The subject of scien tific instruction as taught in our schools shall receive more care ful attention and that all local Unions be urged to appoint Supts. of this department. Third?That in view of the fact of the increase of the num - ber of criminals being sent to State prison from that portion of our State in which our work has seemed to be neglected, we urge upon those in authority to see that this portion of the S*ate thus situated shall be looked after more carefully than heretofore. The Clarksburg Union is pleas ed to report our editors kindly publish notices, reports of meet ings. etc. The sixth meeting of our local Union was be held at the homo of Mrs. Dr. T. B. Thursday,' August '2&nd, 23rd and 24tlu The grounds are beauti fully located and supplied with all the conveniences for the com fort and, pleasure of exhibitors andi visitors. There will be mu sic each day by the First Kegi ment Band. The programme of amusement consists of mule and pony races, climbing greased pole, greased hog race, and all the latest novelties and attrac tions that pertain to a first-class fair. The society has provided a large number of horse races, among which are a free-for-all pace, afree-for-all-trot, and three running races. The speed ex hibition will be particularly in teresting as the track has been graded and put in a good condi tion. Every one should see the fruit, floral and vegetable dis 1 plays, the hundreds of useful and ornamental articles in the ladies' department, and the grand parade of premium stock. Let every one come to the Fair this year and make it the greatest re-uhion and meeting of friends of Harrison and adjoining coun ties ever witnessed.
