Those who fail to see "Tennessee's
Pardner" at the Grand next Thurs
day night will miss one of the best
comedy-dramas that has ever come to
Clarksburg. The play suggests rather
than closely follows Bret Harte's ex
quisite story of the mining camp. It
Is bright and clean, not overdrawn,
and has a distinct vein of comedy
which brightens it wonderfully. The
characters are well balanced and each

rangements relative to tbe final orga
nization of tbe operating force of tbe
plant.
Toe general manager, Mr. C. C.
Moore, is authority for tbe statement
that the work Oh construction is pro
gressing In tbe most satisfactory man
ner. Tbe machinery is nearly all on
the ground 'or In transit The im
mense engines are now being set. Tbe
! foundations are complete, and with
1 the exception of tbe main building,
. all other struct'iial work is practically
complete. A large part of material
for the main building is on the track
or in transit, and a large force of men
will be in Clarksburg In a few days to
beglo erection.
So far as construction of the plant is
concerned, all will be finished In am
i pie time to begin manufacturing
shortly after the first of the year.
The problem that most seriously
confronts the company Is Id relation
to houses for the men. Unless the
public spirited citizens of Clarksburg
Interest themselves and take some
I steps to provide comfortable homes
] which ran be bad at reasonable rental
J it will prove a very serious obstacle
| to the early operation of the plant,
| for men will not come unless they have
I a good home for their families,
j It would seem that in as much as
. Clarksburg will reap the largest bene
| tit from having added to the popula
tion several hundred men with fam

est wages, and who are a creditable

Patrick Malone, who was admitted
to the county infirmary November 27,
. died I here at "> o'clock Friday morn
j ing of heart trouble. Interment was
made in the Potter's field at 2 o'clock
Friday afternoon. He was employed
at Hart Brothers' machinery shops
until he was compelled to go to the
Infirmary on account of sickness.
