I- Pope joy and family, who live at Poneto. south of here, were poisoned by drink ing water from a bucket which haj stood on the porch at their home dur ing their absence. Slwpfr'n X arrow K-or -x. Daleville, Ind., Dec. 4. Roy Helvie had 'an almost miraculous escape from death while driving home at 11 o'clock at night. He went to sleep in; his buggy, and the Union Traction horse went on to the j tracks in front of an j approaching car. The animal wai de capitated and its body thrown some distance, the buggy landing on top of its dead body. The young man was thrown several feet, but escaped with out a bruise. An Open Switch. Marion. Ind., Dec. 4. A Union Traction car collided with a gravel train of three cars at Alexandria yes terday as the result of an open switch. Both cars were considerably dam aged, the greatest to the interurban. Several passengers were badly shaken i.p and much frightened, but no oaej was injured. The accident was due to an open switch at the Elwood junction. f Fatal Coon Hunt. Winchester, Ind., Dec. 4. Frank Collier, a young man who lives live miles northwest of here, accidentally shot and killed himself while coon hunting. In company with a few other men he was hunting, and start ed through a fence, having seen a coon. He was dragging his gun after him when it was discharged, the whole load entering his stomach. First Sold Him Farm. Versailles. Ind., Dec. 4. William Marshall, a farmer, 40 years old, liv ing near Marble Corner, committed suicide by hanging himself to a wal nut tree. His friends and relatives were greatly startled, the cause being in doubt. Mr. Marshall recently sold his farm, preparatory to removing to Vernon. Two hundred Western Reserve university students started out last night to get revenge on Case school men for the latter's attack on the forriier Monday night. A eoH.ge board o, street was invaded by 50 Reserve men and the house turned topsy-turvy. In the attic behind barred doors were found several Case students, who were taken to the street and maltreated. Pails of red and white paint were car ried, and the Case men were daubed with it. Next the Case men were driv en into a cellar of the dormitory and pounded with sticks and clubs. Pres ident Thwing of Western Reserve uni versity, who had been aroused by the noise, came upon the scene", and be fore he was allowed to speak a Re serve man smashed his hat down over his eyes, addressing him as "Old Scout," and asking how he was. As President Thwing attempted to speak he was constantly interrupted by yells from the crowd. He persisted, how ever, in addressing them, and he told them that a continuance of the affair would breed an endless war. He com manded that the students of his uni versity go home. All the time the un fortunate Case men were being mal treated and shoved up in front of Prof. Thwing. who was asked his opinion of such looking objects. Professor Thwing's advice prevailed and the crowd soon dispersed. Count 15oni lias to Pay. Paris. Dee. 4. The financial affairs of Count Boni de Castellane again cam-i before a French tribunal yester ieiiy, hen the court of appeals began fie tearing of the count's appeal against a judgment obtained in the tribunal of commerce in favor of the banker Davillier. The judgment in Question ordered Count de Castellane to pay bills amounting to 2.000,000 francs, drawn by the count in favor of Charles Wertheimer. the London bric-a-brac dealer, and which wen held by M. The Macon county grand jury has indicted Mayor Charles E.
