Mrs. Jacob Micneis received word
that the party who was left to take
charge of her home had stolen her
team, wagon and harness and as much
of the household goods as could be
carried away in the wagon. It would
certainly seem like a man who would
take advantage of a person in such a
time, deserves severe punishment.
Mrs. Michels will go to Pueblo at
once and her brother. Mr. Howerth
will accompany her to the fruit
farm.
Frank Downs went to Omaha Satur
day to purchase feeders for his fine
farm.
Mrs. Rankin returned Saturday
from a visit with her parents, who
live near Ute.

they had been poisoned by eating

Wingrove is drawing near completion,
as Milo Kelly is now doing the plas
tering.
Mrs. C. C. Conrad and Mrs. John
Tourland attended the funeral of
Carrie Soehl last Wednesday.

Nellie .Rule went to Sioux City
Tuesday morning, where she enters
the Samaritan hospital to prepare
herself for a trained nurse. Nettie
will make a success of anything she
undertakes. Many friends regret that
her work will take her away from
this place.

The sad news reached here Monday
that Sophia Dethlessen. the twelve
year old daughter of Henry Dethles
Ben and wite of White Lake. S. D.
met death in an accident that oc
curred while she was assisting her
father. They were in the field pick
ingcorn when the horses ran away and
one wheel ran over her which soon
.caused her death. The bereaved
parents are heart broken over the
loss. Sophia was a bright industrious
girl and the young life crushed out so
suddenly is sad indeed. The family
lived in this community many years
and moved to Dakota a little more
than one year ago. Their many
4 friends deeply sympathize with them
fi|iin their sad hour.
The little boys are now earning
their Xmas money by trapping

ttess of it.

B. C. Jacobsen of Charter Oak was
here Monday1 looking after his farm
near here.
Mrs. Jas. Terry of New Mexico, is
visiting with her aunt. Mrs. A. Alex
ander.
Allen Doidge and wife were visit
ing with relatives here Sunday. All
are glad to know Allen has a good
position with the railroad company in
the round house at Missouri Valley.
Jessie Butler and Oliver Jobe drove
to the country home of Mr. Leek and
enjoyed the day very much.
Mr. Warden, who is a student at
the Theological school of Omaha
preached here morning and evening
last Sunday. His text was found in
Matthew 5-16. "Let your light so
shine before men that they may see
your good works and glorify your
Father which is in heaven." He
preached from the above text in a
forcible manner and all enjoyed the
service of the day. The people here
desire a resident pastor and did not
arrange with him for future work in
this place.
N. P. Brace of Duulap was here
last Monday.
A. A. Conrad was in Omaha Friday
purchasing goods for his store.
Mrs. Gearhart of Collins spent
Saturday with her niece, Mrs. Geo.
Binnall.
Myrtle Saul and brother Oliver
visited friends in the country near
here last week.
Margaret Woodruff of Denison
spent a few days with her. Aunt
Maggie Talcott.
Beryl Logsdon is suffering with
his hand that received injuries from
playing foot ball.

Oct. 31st a baby boy was born to
Paul Poitevin and wife of Overton,

Owing to the drenching rain, the
boys were very much disappointed
that they were not permitted to make
their friendly calls on Oct. 31st,
Hallowe'en night.
Mr. Sebert Messer and wife of
White Lake, South Dakota visited at
the home of Fred Christiensen.
Zeph Fienholt and wife spent Fri
day at the home of Milo Kelly.
On Tuesday evening Nov. 12th
there will be a social at the home of
Valdo Talcott's, All are cordially in
vited to attend. Refreshments will
be served and a pleasant time antici
pated.
Mrs. McGuire of Buck Grove was
here last Saturday. She has many
friends here who are always glad to
see her.
Mrs. Reuben Swe°t of Charter Oak
changed cars here Monday. She spent
a few days at the home of her father.

Dunlap.

Jack Oliver has been making many
improvements on his cottage in east
Arion.
M. B. Nelson has added to the ap
pearance of his residence by putting
on a coat of paint.
Lewis Romans of Denison was here
Wednesday.
Dr. Coon has been seen quite fre
quently owing to the sickness of his
mother. Mrs. Coon. The many
friends are anxious to see the good
lady soon restored to health.
W. W. Cushman transacted busi
ness here Thursday.
E. T. Cochran of Denison was
greeting friends here Friday.
The Misses Wiley and Brake spent
Saturday with Mrs. Milo Kelly.
The sale of D. J. Butler was well
attended and the stock sold well.
Mrs. Dan Wingrove and Mrs.

urday to spend a day with their
mother, Mrs. Boham.

Mr. Bundy visited with friends in
Madrid.
Mr. Buckley has accepted a posi
tion with the Milwaukee rail road
company as brakeman and his head
quarters are now in Sioux City. For
some time he worked in the tower in
this place.
Mrs. Hans Nethan is sufferng with
a sore hand.
Mrs. W. B. Evans went to Omaha
Thursday and remained until Saturday
with her daughter.
George Talcot went to Omaha
Thursday and purchased cattle to
feed.
Pat Slattery is putting a new
foundation under his residence.
Gertie Logsden has completed the
fall term of school near Kenwood and
will return in two weeks to com
mence the winter term.
Mrs. Florence Hoffman and Mrs.
Joe KepforJ visited relatives near
Dunlap last week.

the funeral ot Jacob Michels in Wood

Quite frequently the morning train
going west is missed by would-be
passengers, as the time table in some
of our papers is running on the old
scheduled time and the train goes
about forty minutes ahead of the
former schedule.

Mrs. James McKim accompanied
by her cousin Mrs. F. Duryea attend
ed the Club in Denison last Thursday
afternoon.
Mrs. Alice Turner and little
daughter returned home Thursday
from their visit to Kansas.
Wm. Worley is clerking in Mr.
Haiberg's store.
S. Horr returned from a visit to
his daughter. Mrs. C. D. McKim and
family, where they have located on a
homestead near Lemmon, S. D. He
is very favorably impressed with
their location and says they are happy
and contented.
Wm. McKim and B. F. Wicks
loaded a car Friday afternoon and
Saturday for their new home at In-'
dependence. Mo. Mr. Wicks and
wife will spend the winter there and
may return in the spring. They have
lived here more than fifty years and
will be greatly missed by their old
friends, they took their departure for
Independence Saturday evening

Milton Johnson returned home from
Laurel, Nebr., Saturday.
It is reported that Bert McKim has
the appointment for carrying mail on
R. F. D. No. 1 out of Deloit. The
mail route begins the 16th of this
month and patrons should get their
mail boxes in readiness.
The little son of Bert McKim and
wife fell down on a parasol stay
which he was playing with out doors
and run it in his mouth into one side
of his throat which has made a very
bad place. They took him to Denison
Saturday to consult a physician.
Mrs. T. C. Dobson and daughter
Eunice were at Denison Saturday.
Mrs. N. L. Hunt and little
daughter, accompanied by Mrs. E. L.
Aiston of Logan an aunt of N. L.
and C. J. Hunt, an aged lady 84
years of age spent Friday afternoon
at the home of C. J. Hunt and fam
ily.
Gladys Bool of South Wales
England arrived recently, She is a
lady friend ot the Robertson family,
and graduated as nurse in the same
place Nurse Williams did.
Mrs. Edna Newcom has so far re
covered from her recent illness as to
be able to sit up part of the time,
which her many friends will be glad
to hear.
Mrs. F. H. Brogden and daughter
Margie spent Saturday at Omaha.
