C., Aug. 21— Discovery of. hookworm infection in iforty^one of Nour fortjSfive military recruits recently mobilized for war service has caused public health ser vice authorities to recommend prompt examination o! all units of national guards and national army at present organized, especially i^iose from the warmer portions of thej country. Danger of a widespread epidemic of hook worm in Europe is pointed out if even light cases are sent to tho trenches. These dangers can be prevented to a very great extent, au thorities say, if recruits are system atical examined for intestinal para sites and either treated in the Ameri can training camps or discharged as necessity indicates. American soldiers will not take the hook worm to France if the medical corps can prevent it. Every recruit from the "hook woi in belt" is being subjected to the most careful inspec tion and every infected man will be treated before being sent out of the country.
