Letters of administration were gran ted in the Surrogtte's Court, New York on Saturday, on application of Jnlia Armstrong, who was murdered in Cam den two years ago by Benjamin Hun ter and Graham, an accomplice, fer whloh crime Hunter was hanged and Graham is now serving a sentence in prison. Mrs. Armstrong, in her peti tion, recites the granting of letters of administration to her in Philadelphia and says her husband left assets in New York, consisting of a polioy ia the Mu tual Life Insurance Company forflO 000 and another policy in the Man hattan Life for *6,000. She further avera that these claims made by her are oonteated, and that she is advised they are of donbtfal charaoter and are not worth more than *1,000. She gave bonds In *3,000 to await the issue of the suits on the policies. An Eloping Couple. The Rev. Dr. Hunter and Miea Emma Androvette, tho pretty nineteen-year old daughter of Cornelius Androvette a well-to do carpenter of Holoken, N. J., who eloped together about three weeks ago, have been heard from. On tho day following their departure from Hoboken, they sailed for Bermuda, on baggage consisted of two email valises and they registered their names as Mr. and Mrs Honghton, of New York. The vessel had gone a Bhort distanoe down tho bay when Miss Androvette inquired of the stewardess whether she oould pur chase clothing in Bermuda. She ap peared pleased on receiving an answer in the affirmative. One of the officers says that the pair were very affectionate and attracted much attention during the voyage. Mrs. Hunter has left the house in Hoboken and is supposed to be stopping with a friend in Westfield Mor Cooke'* Estate, Tha remaining Jay Cooke assets, the value of whloh is set down at *1,232 465.12, including Northern Pacific rail road stock, real estate, eta, will be offered at publio sale on Wednesday. The report of Edwin M. Lewis, the trustee of the estate, says it has already been made to yield a dividend of sixty, one per oent., which the remaining sets may inorease to eighty per oent. This statement ie denied by a large body of creditors, who claim to have received on'y forty-four per oent., and that should the remaining assets brine the *1,232.460.12 claimed by the trus tee, then tbe estate will pay out but fifty-nine and a half per cent. Newahk, March 27, 18*0. Mbssbs. Kdiioks ; — In your Edito rial of tho 25th, under the head "The Paper Monopoly," yon have fallen into the same error with many others, when yon say "there ia no exeuie," for what you are pleased to call "Cor ner in paper." You also say that the "raw materials are as abundant and obeap as ever," which is not true at all, aud had you known anything about the faots you would have so written. For the last two yeare, till within a period of six months, the stock in our Mills cost 2 cents per pound, and all chemicals In propoition—now the same class of goods cost four and . , * quarter cents per pound more than doable while paper has only advanced about twenty-five to thirty-three per oent. We have been in business here since 1848, and never knew of any combina tion or proposed monopoly in branch of the business, and your as sertion that such is a fact is unjust and nntras. Mr. Magarge has only himself to blame in the oontraot he made with the Government—hia bid was far below all others, and we all knew he oould not fill it with profit, even had stock not advanoed. onr Mr. Magarge, I am glad to say, ia In no way oonnected with our house, and not the same family. Your criticism about the honesty of the trade may go for what it is worth— but when yon say "the paper oombina tion is only waiting for Congress to ad ourn to make a farther advance in the ;)rloes,'' you speak without authority for snob an assertion. Tho priee of newspaper before the war and even just previous to the pauio ol 1873 was about the same as at present and sinoe the latter period, many mills have not made expenses, and now that a small profit is beginning to be reallxed, you and other Editors oan hardly find harsh epithets enough to throw at them, and oall in question their honesty.
