Herald;—I n order that the Board of Public Education might manage to get through the year upon the appropriation allowed them, we would sug gest that they consider the subject of de ducting from the salaries of teachers, one month's pay when the schools are closed and they are enjoying their vacation in various places, while many of those who have to help pay the salaries of these teach ers, are compelled to stay at their homes and worry through the hot weather, be cause their employers are not willing to pay them for the time lost. Generally em ployees are allowed about two weeks' vaca tion a year, for which they get paid, but we understand that in the case of school teach ers they have from seven to nine weeks' vacation during the year for which they draw salaries.
