Rutler has received orders to take command
of an important expedition. It ia believed
here that Virginia secesj ionisti have erected
batteries at Acquia Creek to prevent an ap
proach to Richmond. Certain developments
indicate that Government w ill make a decisive
demontration in a short time.
It peems Lieutenant Gilden, Aid de Camp
to (Jen. McClellan of thai Ohio troops, ac
companied the train on which Col. Anderson
was paa.enger to Ilarrisburg, nnd when at
Middictown he received a letter from a frioud
in Keutucky desiring him to Inform Ander
I n that Mr. Rreoknridgc would meet him
at Cincinnati to take command under him to
asist in organizing the Federal troops in
Kentucky. Col. Anderson received the in
telligence with warmth, as Mr. Rreckinridge
was an old personal friend, but it is said he
remarked the news was almost too good to be
true. Tbe fact of Col. AnJerwn mention
ing the circumstance to Governor Curtin,
however, came from an unmlstakeable source.
