Fhe departure of Hit* Prince of
Wales for India has one curious
result on certain classes of proper
ty in England which has rot been
sufficiently r.otic d. It is well
&nown that some leases are made
to run for a number of lives ; and
the Prince <>f Wales, life has fre
quently been selected as a stand
ard, for the reason th:it his death
will immediately he known. Per
,30ns holding leases of this kind
have been afustoined to protect
themselves by insuring the Princes
life. Since the journey to India
has been arranged they have re
ceived notice that the Prince’s life
will in the future be reckoned as
OXtra-hazard’US until he returns to
England. There is much charac
teristic grumbling among the
property owners interested.

Curiously enough, another and

TO MY FRIENDS
-ANI) THE
General Public:
Ol N A NI) A PTE It September 20th,
874, I will close my book accounts,
and from that time forward propose to
sell my goods for

ALONE. I am forced to this by the
largo amount of money that has accu
mulated on my books. In taking this
step I prc pose to sell goods at prices
which would be ruinous to any ono who
does business on a credit basis.
Credit means that in place of paying
when the article is bought, you propose
to pay at some future time, and you pay
well for the extra time, as every one
who buys on credit knows. The credit
system has proved a curse to our whole
country, which is fully demonstrated
by the fuilureof some of its leading bus
