Tuesday evening while. Charles Al len, superintendent of the electric light and water Company was em ployed at the power house his hand was caught in the machinery and he was painfully injured. The top joint of one linger was severed and the third finger was cut off at the second Joint. The Misses Noble and Howe were hostesses to the Teachers club, Tues day evening. A Christmas tree laden with gifts was one of the features of the evenings enjoyment. The host esses served a luncheon at a late hour and the evening was one of much en joyment to all participating. Blanche Pierce a teacher in the school at Harrlsbnrg, S. D. is home for the holidays. An exciting game of basket ball was played in the high school "gym" Tues day evening between the Earlville Aerial Artillery and the Cfalesburg town team. Earlville won the game which was hard fought from start to -fidlfth. Thescorewas 17 to 14. A large crcwd witnessed the contest. The high school "gym" now has a fine hal «*ny around the entire floor space, which gives the audience abetter view of the game. wm ^cnlm and the- firemen kept the lire from spreading. Word has been received here of the death of Mr. Charles B. Bush who died on a ranch near Jacinto Heights, Texas, December 16th. Mr. Bush was £$•94 years old and had been maimed SO years. He is survived by his widow, one son, Guilford C. Bush of Los Ange les, California, two grand-daughters and one brother, Herbert S. Bush of De Kalb, Illinois. Mr. Bush is well remembered in Earlville which was his borne for many years. While residing herp he was engaged in the commission business together With his father and brother, on a large scale. Dunn, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Dunn, to Miss Ola KUng of Manchester. The annual meeting of the directors and stockholders of the State Bank of Earlville was held at the bank Tues day. The usual routine of busim was transacted and the regular semi annual dividend of 6 percent was de ducted. The past year was found to have been an especially good one for "The Old Reliable". The Earlville Consolidated school held their Christmas festivities Friday afternoon. The grades taught by the Misses Murley, Sperring and Noble held their exercises in each room. The rooms were all beautifully decorated and each room had a tree. After en |oyable exercises- by the children, the teachers gave generous treats to the children. At the high school the 4tb, 5th, 6th, and 7th grades, taught by the Misses Rowe, BurrelU Wetherbee and Noble united and had a beautiful Christmas tree in the school gym. Dis tribution of gifts made the event highly enjoyable. Later the students assem bled in their respective rooms where the teachers gave generous treats. The celebration of Christmas at the school this year was one of the most enjoy able in the annals off the school. At the conclusion of the exercises Santa Claus appeared at the school house blowing his trumpet and led the child ren to the Farmers .State Bank where each child was presented with ji treat.
