The Edison F.lectric Light Company of Ot
tawa organized nearly two years ago, are be
ginning to consider tho matter of putting It
Into active shape. Recent correspondence
upon the subject is disclosing some import
ant facts bearing upon the subject.
A Warning.
Cold, wet weather will soon take the place
of this beautiful fail season, una you will
need warm, dry and comfortable boots and
shoes. Don't wait till bad weather catches
you, but come at once to Joe Megallin's,
where you can find everything in tho boot
and shoe line, including water-tight boots,
at common sense prices.
The county authorities are building a cis
tern at the boiler house with the capacity of
2S0 barrels, to be supplied with water through
a pipe running from the sldecut. The cistern
will bo divided Into two compartments, a CI
tor being placed between them. Filtered
water will be used for steam purposes, and
tho unliltercd in caso of ftro breaking out.
Workmen were engaged during the week in
laving the pipe along Jncksou street that
will furnish the water.

L. II. Johnson, the special officer from
Nebraska, who caused the arrest of John II.
Wiggins on the chargo of larceny, arrived in
Ottawa Thursday with the warrant for his
arrest. This was forwarded to Governor
C'ullom that evening and it is probablo that
It will be re;urned to-day, and the man and
his prisoner will proceed west at once.

intf, and excrutscs that made the evening pass
very pleasantly. The "new minister" seems
