Ou January '.'9th, at his residence in Sheridan, after along and painful illness, Mr. J. D. Courtright. He was one of tbo earliest settlers of La Salle County, having come here to Illinois in an early day and settled in La Salle county about ten miles north of Ottawa. lie pur chased a farm upon which he and family lived for many years. Subsequently he moved to Sheridan, where he lived until hi death, reaching a good, old age. Mr. Courtright was an industrious, enierpriing and successful fanner, an indulgent husband and a kind aud amiable fuller, whose worth and influence in life and in home circle, for good will and uprightness of purpose and heart, canuot be too seduouly cUcri h ! and fondly remembered by his many kin h e 1 and friends. We take '20 cents and buy a bottle of Dr. Bu". s C'.ugS Syrup. Obituary, Dr. C. W. Reynolds, one of Ottawa's ear liest citizens, is no more. He died very suddenly, on Monday evening last, at about 7 o'clock, at the residence of his son-in-law, Mr. E. A. Ferry. The Doctor had eaten his supper and seemed in his usual health and spirits. He retired to his room, as was his custom, to read his paper. jSoon after he returned, evidently in great pain and said to his daughter, " I guess I am done for,'' or something to that effect. He dropped into a chair and Mr. Terry ran for a physician. Soon returning, he was placed upon a lounge and within twenty minutes be was dead, from heart disease. Pr. Reynolds waa born in Brown county, Ohio, Jan. 20tb, 1811, and came to La Salle county in May, 1854. He lived a part of bis time since coming to this state, in Livingston county, and was its first clerk. He was also postmaster of l'onti.io for a time. He prac ticed meuicine in La Salle county for over fifty years, and was very successful. He was a gentleman of the most kindly disposi tion, aud had hosts of friends who part with hirn in deep sorrow. He leaves surviving him three children, Mrs. E A. Terry, Mrs Klias Day and U. W. Reynolds, Jr., all of Ottawt'. The funeral occurred on Wednes day. Mr.. George Seilfert died at her home, in West Ottawa, on Wednesday last, between 2 and 4:30 p. m , of what Dr. Hard, who was called ufterwards, found to have been hem uri huge of the lungs. She had cooked lur dinner, and at 'J o'clock, when a neighbor visited her, she appeared in good health. Ai 4:1!0 she was found dead upon the floor. She was a widow, her husband having been scald ed to death in a vut of boiling beer 21 years ago. Suo was bo) n in Lorraine. Mav .4. 1810, came to Ottawa in 1857. She leaves five children George, Frederick, Tbilip, Al bert and Km ma. All are married save the last two. Mrs. Seiffert wos a very amiable woman and beloved by all who knew her, aud a Christian iu all her conduct. AJiw Torber Sunsberg died at the home of her sister, Mrs Ann Mitchell, in West Otta wii, of typhoid neiaiioiiin, at 4 p. m. 1oM Saturday. She had been ill but a week. Knoedlcr has purchased the well known butcher shop of Geo. Lippert.on Main street, taking possession today. This has long been know n as one of the best shops in the city, and Mr. Knottier will spare no pain lo maintain its high character.
