Mr. Thomas O'Doniiell. His death, which
occurred so recently In our midst, was, to
us, a severe and terrible tdiock. Seldom

seemed gifted with a sound constitution,
and destined lor a long life. A few weeks
ef neavy sickness, however, told fearfully
on him and, although already past the
critical point and apparency on the way to
recovery, his condition was still regarded

worst could be expected and that death
might come at any moineut. A few hours
before dawn In the morning of the Bbth,
an unusual wise throughout the house,
the low whisper and the quiet, hurried
tread ot footsteps told plaluly that the end
was really approaching. So indeed it was;
the priest had already heard his confession,
annolnted him, and given him all the spir
itual consolation that a minister of the
church and a priest of Otsl can give. He
was well prepared, and was ready for Jeath.

and beneath Its cold grasp, his breathing
ceased, his young heart st.iped Its beating;
his spirit had lied. Close I y his side his
dear mother and brother, In tears and with
