Columbia, Aug. 5, ’54-91-tf. Read this Card. COLUMBIA BEING THE LARGEST interior town of the State, we see no reason why business should not be trans acted in a manner commensurate with its size and importance, or why all class es of Merchandize cannot be afforded at rates that will prevent purchasers being reminded of ’4y, thereby strengthening the impression that San Francisco <l only ’’ locality where goods can be obtained at a reasonable advance upon importation cost, —which is doubtless an error, as after the first bait is taken. Should an up-country buyer be found ignorant of that market, the “TAR IFF ” is introduced in a pecular, but profitable style ;so that, with road and rivei expenses, an occasional lunch in the Bay City, and transportation of pur chases home, the prices range higher than what we Can and “ WILL ” sup ply the goods for here. Our facilities warrant us in speaking thus frankly.— A Partner resides at the Bay, and has only himself to blame, if not posted on prices in San Francisco, and the wants of Columbia. A Partner here, sells at rates that will surprise all who may chance to inquire. Traders, Hotel-Keepers k Miners, here, and in the adjacent Camps, can be accommodated with all descriptions ef of Merchandise, in any quantities, at regular San Francisco prices, freight and commission added; always have their goods warranted to be of the very first quality, and delivered in good or der, free of charge. This place enjoys the deserved repu tation of having good society. Families are being attracted hither, to locate per manently, and must be supplied with the necessaries and luxuries of life.— We are prepared to meet any emergen cy, arising from a sudden influx of pop ulation, or brisk demand, occasioned by bad roads, during the winter, and would say to all, call upon us and be satisfied.
