Sir. Capron becomes Smitten. Mr. Capron resides in Hartford. On Wednesday he paid a visit to this city. During the evening he took up a position on the Mansion House stoop to see the ladies and think of strawberries. Mr. Capron is evi dently a susceptible young man, with a strong bias to ward pouting lips and plum-colored eyes. We say Mr. Capron stood on the Mansion House stoop. About a quarter to ten a young lady with veiled face passed. Mr. Capron felt his heart beat like a trip-hammer. Mr. Capron resolved to make the acquaintance of the young lady. He acordingly pulled up his collar, adjusted hi’ ■ dickey, and started in pursuit. As they approached Steuben street, Mr. Capron opened conversation, and •iked the young lady if he might see her home—the itreet being dark and lonesome ! The young lady said “it was the very favor she would have asked.” Saying this, she took Mr. Capron’s arm, which caused Mr. Capron's heart to flop about like a blessed carp in a lime basket. They walked up Broadway to Orange, up Orange to Van Schaa;k, a short distance above Chapel. Here the young lady stepped upon the s'onp, opened the door, and invited Mr. Capron to walk in and “take a seat in the front room.” Mr. ("apron replied “W ith pleasuie, my love.’’and took up his position in a twelve shilling locking chair. The young lady then took off her hat and veil, and coi.nnt need feeling for a match to light the lamp with. The young lady, after a de.d of trouble, found the match. The young lady lit the mntch, and then touched off the lamp. Ihe moment site d.d this Mr. Capron was seized with astonishment. “Why,yon arc a colored girl are you not?" “C< rtainly ; are you not of the same pattern ?” •Me ! of course not." “Why, thou, did you wish to accompany me home ? Why did you call me ‘my dear ?’ ” “Bah ! Get my hat." The young lady, as desired, handed Mr. Capron his bat and regretted that he had misconstrued matters. Mr. Capron made no response, but stormed to the ha!! door, and kicked a bob-tailed dog off the stoop- Mr. Capron had barely left the sloop when a colored gentleman came from an unexpected hiding place. “What you been to see dat gal for?" “What gal ?" “Dat gal where you kicked der dog.” “None of your business. Don't bother me?" “But I will bodder you. Never call on dat colored gal when rmj' ut. Must kill tins nigger or take his life— don’t care which.” Here Othello, with a great disregard of his personal property, threw a ten shill ng overcoat into a mud-pud dle, and pitched into Mr. Cupron. The first blow lilted Mr. Capron about a foot. The n -xt laid him as flat as a flounder. Mr. Capron hallowed for tiie police. The police eame and arrested the party. The colored man, Mr, Wilson, was excused, and held to bail to appear ai the next County Court. It U doubtful, however, whether Mr. Capron will appear against him. The transaction is attended with surroundings which would not reed well in the land of steady habits.- ■State Police i Tribune. Robert Emmet and bis Bride. Twas the evening of a lovely day— the last day for the noble and ill-fated Emmet. A young lady sloo.i ut I the castle gate, and desired admittance into the dun geon. She was closely veiled, and lliekeejier cou.d noi ; imraagine who she was, nor why one of such proud i bearing should be a suppliant at the prison door. However, he granted the boon—led her to the dungeon, opened the massive iron door, then closed it again, and the lovers were alone. He was leaning against the the prison wall, with a downcast head, and his arms folded on his breast. Gently she raised the veil from her face, and Emmet turned to gaze upon uii tnat earth contained for him—the girl whose sunny brow, in me days of boyhood, had been ids polar star—the maiden who had sometimes made him think “the world was all sunshine.” The clunking of the heavy chains sounded like a d.ath-kuell to her ears, and she wept like a child; Emmet said but little, yet be pressed her warmly to his bosom, and their feelings held a silent meeting—such a meeting, perchance, as is held in heaven, only there we part no more. In a low voice lie besought her not to forget him when the cold grave received his inanimate body—he spoke of by gone days—the happy hours ol childhood, when his hopes were bright and glorious, and he concluded by requesting her sometimes to visit the plaies and scenes that weie ha.lowed to his memory from the days of infancy ; and should the world pro nounce his name with scorn and contempt, ha prayed •he would still cling to him with affection, and remem ber him when others should forget. Hark ! the church bell sounded, and he remembered the hour of execution. The turnkey entered, and after dashing the tears from his eyes, lie sepcraUd them from their long embrace, and led the lady from the dungeon. At the entrance she turned, and their eyes met—they could not say farewell—the door swung upon its heavy hinges, and they parted forever. No! nut for ever I is there no Heaven ? At sunrise next morning he suffered gloriously—a martyr to his country and to liberty. ***** “And one—o’er her the myrtle showers, Its haves by soft winds fanned : She luded ’midst Italian flowers— The last of th.'.t lair band,” *T was in the land ofltuly—what u magnificent scene! A pale, eiuanciated gin upon her bed of death. Oh ! it was hard for her to die, far from home, in this beau tiful land, where flowers bloom perennial, and the balmy air comes freshly to the pining soul. 0!i! no—her star bad set—the brightness of her dream had faded—her heart was broken. When ties have been formed on earth—close burning ties—what is ra re heart-rending and agonizing' to the spirit than to find that, at last, the beloved one is snatched away, and all our love is given to> “passing flower.”—Enough —she died—the betroth, ed of Hubert Emmet—the lovely Sarah Curran. Italy contains her last remains—its flowers breathe then fragrance o\er her grave, and the lulling tones of the shepherd’s flute sound a requiem to her memory. “And vrilt thou ever, ever be uuiaithful tome again “Nay, dearest,’’ he replied. Dear Sir: —Such is the thankfulness I feel for the preservation of my health of body and mind, and I believe of my life, that I hope I will not be considered intrusive in tendering my thankful acknowl edgments for restoring me to health, and making my life a boon worth preserving, when it had become a burthen too great for me to bear. Victim as I was to vice that had undermined my const! tbl’mi, and. developed a train of nervous symptoms, smh as nervous debdity, heada he, distressing timidity, self-distrust, dizziness, love of solitude,. loss of memory and want of resolution, besides a loss of strength and energy, which had made my waking moments wretched and my sleep unrefreshing, and was fast bringing me to the grave; hut thanks to your skill lam restored to health, vigor and energy. Hoping to guide o hers where they may find relief, you have my permission to make this public. Gratefully yours, LEONARD WAITE. To Dr L. J. Czapkat, San Francisco. Stockton, May 24,1855. Dear Sir :—Having entirely recovered from my sickness, I avail' myself of this opportunity to return my thankful acknowledgments for the relief that you have given me. When I think of the distress ing bodily weakness under which I have suffered, and the nervousness, headache, Tearfulness, want of confidence, dizziness, restlessness, weakness in the limbs, loss of memory, confusion of ideas, dislike for society, nocturnal emissions, and many other symptoms, which had made my life miserable ; I can hardly express the gratitude I feel, for my existence had become a burthen to me, and nothing afforded the least gratification, whilst now I feel perfectly well and can enjoy life to my entire satisfaction. Knowing that there are many afliicted as I-have been, you have my permission to make use of this letter as you think proper. Believe me, gratefully yours, M. MICHELS. To Dr. L. J. Czapkay, San Francisco. Portland, Oregon, May 15,1855. Dr. Czapkay —Dear Sir:—Your medicine has been taken according to directions. 1 feci a little weak yet; in every other way 1 am almost entirely recovered, and think in a short time 1 shall be as welt as ever. Everybody that knows me is wondering what made such a changej for some friends thought I had consumption, and others said I was going crazy. Well, I don’t know but they were both right, as I-felt a good deal both ways, and thought if I did not die soon I would like to. lam not troubled any more with emissions, and the pain in my head and back and the weakness in my limbs have left me, and so has the dizziness, timidity, and the wish always to be alone: ] am not. Afraid to go in company now, and am not so easily scared as I used to be, when any little thing would set me trembling. 1 have been at work this week, which is the first 1 have done for six months, u:d the thought of it don’t discourage me like it used to. Indeed, 1 feel like another man, and it is all owing to your medicine and ad vice. You may publish this if you want to. Yours, etc.. JOSEPH RATH. Sonora, May 28, 1855. Dr. T.. J. When I called upon you. a few weeks since. I had’but little hope of being so speedily- recover ed. I cannot dep et die suffering of mind which I endured, whilst my bodily infirmities made me a burthen to my friends. For all this 3 feel truly thankful, for to your medicine and advice I am indebted fern the restoration of my health. 11 you think any one would be benefited by putting this letter in the papers, you arc at liberty to do so. This principle, which is now universally recognized, was re ceived even before the d-iys of Jenner, the discoverer of vaccination, in 1790, and its multiplied benefits ever since have received, as they deserved, the attention of the medical faculty. It was in pursuit of this branch of the medical science that Dr. L. J. Czapkay fortunately made the discovery of his‘-Prophilacticum,” which for the preven tion of Syphilitic. Gonorrhoeal, Cancerous and Cutaneous disorders, stands unrivaled by any agent in the Pharmacopia. The effect of this agent Titter coilion is immediate, and removes tha possibility of a contraction of disease. If, however, the disease has been contracted, it is useful in neutralizing the poisonous secretions, which by absorption, produce the horrid consequences known as secondary syphilis. It has been administered by the doctor in many thousand cases and he has yet to find tlie first in which it has frl’ed to subserve the purpose for whicb it was administered.
