Williams, for the Kickapoo tribe, has applied to the State for a military es cort to bring his Kickapoos up from the Indian Territory to the Kansas line, to protect them from the Little Osages, who have visited the agency •with hostile intent, and expressed a determination to kill every white man in the Territory. Governor Osborne has tendered the use of the militia to Gen. Pope for such escort. Great alarm exists along the Southern line contiguous to the Osage Reservation, and the militia are concentrating in that locality. Rev. Dr. Racon on the needier Scandal. New York, Sept. 2.—Rev. Dr. Leon ard Bacon contributes a paper to the Independent on the Brooklyn scandal, which is mainly devoted to an attack on Moulton and the role he has enact edfin the matter as a mutual friend. He argues that whether Beecher's or Moulton's story be true, the latter is left in a most unenviable position. Beecher charges him with having been for years the chief actor in a base con spiracy. He tells a story very dishon orable to his own discretion, and not incredible, all things considered. This conspiracy was to ruin Beecher and his family by false charges; but if Beecher's story be untrue, Moulton fStill appears by his own story to have been engaged in a conspiracy to cover up and compromise a foul wrong against society —to conceal a crime which ought to have been exposed and punished. The writer concludes as follows: " Doubtless it is the hope of countless multitudes in this and other lands that Beecher will be triumph antly vindicated, and they are praying that he may be, but they are not pray ing nor hoping that if he is guilty he may escape detection. Having long honored him as a good man, they be lieve lie is innocent of the wickedness imputed to him, and will believe so till be shall be proven guilty. In that belief they are praying that his inno cence may be made manifest, and that those who have conspired to destroy him may be confounded. Beecher's friends do not claim for him immunity in any wickeduess. Moulton may ne- himself in infamy, but he is not counted among Beecher's friends. About the Black Hills. Washington, Sept. 4.—Lieutenant General Sheridan to-day sent the fol lowing order: To Brigadier - General Alfred H. Terry, St. Paid, Minn, :—Should the companies now organizing at Sioux City and Yorktowa trespass on the Sioux Indian Reservation, you are specially directed to use the force un der your command to burn wagon trains, destroy the outfit and arrest all miners, confining them at the nearest military post in the Indian country. Should they succeed in reaching the interior, you are directed to send such force of cavalry in pursuit as will ac complish the purpose above named. Should Congress open the country to settlement by extinguishing the treaty rights of the Indians, the undersigned will give cordial support to the settle ment of the Black Hills. Duplicates of these instructions havebeeu sent to the General commanding the Depart ment of the Platte." Dockery. New York, Sept B.—A letter dated Havana, August 28th, says: ,; On the 19th an order was given to put Fred erick Docaery in the chain-gang, which was accordingly done, but he was spared the indignity of being set to work with the remainder of the gang."
