The following is telegraphed from Hollister. It does not probably amount to much. Unless tbe officers, me greatly mistaken, Obarvea is not now in this State: This morning E. Aquirre,of Hollis ter, noticed in the express office three letters written in Spanish, two ad dressed to the citizens of Han Jose aud one to the citizens of Hollister. The letters were behl for postage. Iquirre told (be express agent nnd they opened them. Following is a copy of the letter: NOTICE TO THB TOWN Of HOLLISTER. January of 1H75. OapUrtu Gltovara Oftavts to (he inhab itant of Hollietert Know you that in regard to the acta committed by the Captain of my com pany,, f say thai t, Otiding myself guilty of lliose acts, fled to Mexico, but having been informed while there that Vasquez was under sentence of death, I have returned as far as this place, with the aim of disclosing the falseness of the evidence sworn to against him, and In case that Vasquez should be hanged, to quietly mete out a recompense, because 1 do not believe thai I am in need of resources or lack sufficient valor to take him or meet death in the attempt. I wish to set 1 the result. Kor this reason I let y»u know t hat if Vasquez is hung try his enemies, who through fear have t timed against him, then you will know if I know bow to avenge the death of Ihi Captain. Ido nol exact of you to set him free, but I do not want him hung, because he was not bloody. This 1 can prove under oath 111 times gone by. T. McMahori will remember, that Vas- quez saved his life subsequent to the murders at Tres Pinos. I was he who formed the bead of the atl'ray. He (Vasquez) certainly was our Captain, but I neglected the orders that were imposed upon us. If this is not sutli olent, or if by this means Vasquez does not get his sentence appeased, then you will have to sillier as in the time of Joaquin Murleta, The just with the unjust alike will be punished, according to law. Then you will never more hear of me in this county or the State, neitherofme nor my company, if be has mitigations given him. Let it be published in the papers with nothing more. Cleovara Chaves and Company. Sale of George Treat's Stud-Old Thad Knocked down for $1,100 j From Iho s. F. Call, Jan. Ht] The sale of George Treat's stud hy Ci ego cm Bowley, took phtee yesterday in front ofthe ATerchunts' Exchange, and attracted a largo assemblage of spectators, including curbstone broken but only a few bidden). Charles Mc- Laughlin was the real principal of the sale, for money advanced hy him to Treat. There was little anticipation on the st reet thut the horses would re alize good values, tlie ee*n l;Uon of stocks having done much to tighten the pnise-strings of persons likely to buy. Punctually at the hour an nounced, Mr. Bowley mounted his stan.l, and the veteran flyer, 'fluid Stevens, was led forth, and his merits expiated Upon', Thud looked as dull and unconcerned as he does on the track. He did not even whisk his tail and go into a flurry when the autioneer elicited as the first hid 1600. By easy gradations the bidding reached $1,101), and at this figure Thad liesame the property of William t tbapraan. Henry waa withdrawn from aale, having been disposed of privately. Monday, a stallion of eleven years, with an average record,, was sold to Mr. Nelson for $500. Nell Flaherty, one of the most fleet footed mares in this State, and tbe Winner of many important, stakes, found an owner iv Wilbur Pierce, the jockey, for $1,000. Fierce bought for A. V. Buckley. The trotter Venture, eleven years old, waa bought by R. S. Farley, of Sail l.eandro, for §1,200, Chas. McLaughlin bought Mattie Howard, nine years old, for $5110. Camilla rjraa was purchased by Wm. McDonald for $6T5, and Annette by H. Bowley for $425. Kate Chase and Turf Gallery were with drawn. Tlie total realized by the sale is $4,245. Before his defeat by Katie Pease,Thad .Stevens alone was worth considerably more than this amount MISCELLANEOUS. NOTK'K.
