On Monday, the 10th instant, two miners who live at Cascade, named John Wilson and Moses Hall, were drowned while hunting near Marble Comb, on the Bouth Fork of Feather river. A large number of fine horses are in training at Agricultural Park, Sacra mento, many of which are to take part in the races of the Sacramento Jockey Club, commencing ou the 31st instant. James McDouall recently struck an artesian well near the Salinas River, at a depth of 169 feet. The cost of this running stream of water to Mr. Mc- Donall was only $185. One thousand and seventeen acres of the Guadalupe Rancho, situated about eight miles south of Salinas City, were rented the other day for a term of years to A. Blouquist, for $1, --000 per annum—less than $1 per acre. A trespass quarrel between two neighbors at Orangeville, Tular county, on Monday evening resulted in one of the parties—John H owl and— being killed by the other, named Charles Lyon. J. Emory, of Putah Creek, com menced bis wheat harvest last Mon day, May 17th. Mr. Emory for the two last preceding years has com menced his wheat harvest on. May 16th, and but for the 16th falling on Sunday this year, would have commenced on the 16th this year. The Woodland Democrat of Thurs day soys: "We were shown a field of club wheat, some three miles west of town, on Tuesday last, the growth of which is very even, and about four feet high. It will be ready for the header in about a week, and give evi dence that it will yield at least thirty bushels to the acre." A short time since the splendid saw mill of Mr. Churchill, situated at Snow Tent, Nevada county, between Moore's Flat and Eureka South, was destroyed by fire, with all its contents.
