A Mr. Broaddus, of Leavenworth

A letter in the Yroka Union from
Scott's Valley; states that ou Saturday

On Monday the State Controller
issued warrents for the salaries of
State and couuty officers for May in
the sum of $53,178 17; also drew a
warrent iv favor of R. O. Cravens in

The wires of the Western Union
Telegraph Company were put to work
at Hueneme Saturday, amid intense
rejoicing of the people, who look up
on the acquisition of telegraphic com
munications as a great aid to the grow
ing commerce of the place.
Harrison Fuqua received a pardon
from the Governor on Saturday, and
is a citizen again. He was convicted
of grand larceny in Sau Joaquin coun
ty last year, but his conduct since has
been such as to justify strong hopes
