Sir : The motive which ha« induced me to writetliis letter to you, is, that I might be instrumentul in the recommendation of Morrison’s Universal Vegetable Medicines to the afflicted, which, by the Divine bltss ing has cured me of the Scarlet Fever. My case was as follows: Whilst returning from Washington to Alex andria, I was taken very ill, which obliged me, on my arrival, to retire suddenly to bed, but could not sleep, and he next day my throat became so much inflamed, that I could scarcely swallow; and my face, breast, and body, presented evident symptoms of the great dan ger I was in, and I knew not what to d"; Calomel or Mercury 1 abhorred as poison, and therefore desired no assistance from the Druggist; but my mother, who had experienced th good effect of the Uygeian Pil-S in a case or two of her own, most strenuously advised me to try their virtue, which, with reluctance, I con sented to, and commenced by taking *ight No 1 pills at night* and eight No V the next morning and con tinned takmg, increasing daily, morning and veiling, until 1 took sixteen No 2 at a tim*-. which were dis solved in water, »&, by means of my sore throat, I couhl not otherwise s- allow them. I confess the dose made me feel somewha* qualmish, f<c ; but the pills and the powders, of which I took one or two tea-spoonsfull a clay, operated well, and the final re-ult w.s, • hat I fel1 into a sou id sleep, of which I had been d> priced, and the next morning awoke in a sta'e of p r-ptra'ion,freed from fever, cool and comfortable,-and ni. reason (for l had been deranged in mind) returned; and on the 9th day from the time ! was first taken, I left mv room, anil have ever since enjoyed belter health than I did before You have my leave Jo make what use you please of this. 1 wish you su^-ss. and ;.m sir, your obedient friend, M\KY ANN FOWLBli.
