Sergeant. 16—3t , rnrtuuiogy m i rouoie.—i\ cast oi .\apoieon, taken after death, by Dr. Automarchi, his medi cal attendant has put the phrenologists marvel lously at fault. It seems that the “ developments” are all anti-phrenological—downright posers to a bump! Examined scientifically and after the strictest technical fashion, the head of the great captain indicates nothing more than a very com mon place intellect. Tiie following is the exact phrenological value:—Intelligence well develop t ed, but not rising to genius; and a general apt itude for many things, in a feeble degree. In whatever situation such a man should be placed, he would act his part with propriety, but would nrrer perjnrm any thing great or extraordinary. One of the learned in the sublime science ex plains this very ingeniously-and satisfactorily, i by declaring with great simplicity and acumen, i that ‘‘there are exceptions to every general ! rule!” We look upon this solution us altogether the best that could be given, and we adopt it accordingly—reserving our right hereafter, to clinch the proposition by that most musty of maxims—Exceptio prohat regulam. However, if there is any loop left in weak minds, the mat ter is put to sleep by another phrenologist; for he contends that Napoleon, after all, was no great things. PURIFIED BEARS’ OIL. AMONG the many articles offered to the pub lic for the growth and preservation of the hair, none seem to have given so much satisfac tion as the Purified Bear’s Oil, which has been known, in many instances, to restore the hair on heads which have been bald for years; it also pre vents the hair from falling out, and quickly re stores it when lost from sickness, or any other cause. It gives to the most stubborn locks a strong, glossy and lasting curl, removes the dandriff, which often impedes the growth of the hair, causing head-ache, Ac. The Bear’s Oil is far superior to Antique or Macassar Oils, which, being of vegetable origin, soon make the hair hard and crisp, while ani mal oils, on the contrary, make it soft and beau tiful. Of the latter class, the Bear’s Oil, being more penetrating, is, of course, preferred. Mo thers will find it excellent for the heads of their children, and to gentlemen of fashion it is re commended for the growth of whiskers. When used, it should be well rubbed into the roots of the hair with a penetrating hair-brush, which excites also a healthy action in the skin; the hair should be well oiled every other day, be fore combing it. Being highly purified, and pleasantly perfumed, it will he found decidedly superior to any other article for constant use in dressing the hair. Price 25 cents per bottle. jLf* A fresh supply of the above incompara ble article, with an extensive variety of Elegant Perfumery, on hand, and for sale by sept 24—wlw J. B. HEPBURN. $300 REWARD.
