The boy was arrested and brought before Justice Beach who gave him in charge of Mr. Biers to deliver him to the authorities of Fairfax county. Mr. Biers carried him home and tied him to a bed stead, but he escaped shortly afterwards, and has not since been heard of. Mayor's Office.?Peter Noland, and Michael MeGuire, for drunkenness and disorderly conduct, were each fined $2.50, and discharged. Major Henry T. Dixon, (who had*the rencounter with Dr. T. C. Maddux, an account of which was published in yesterday's Gazette,) died this morning from the effects of 'he wounds he received. He had the best surgical assistance, but all efforts to save his life wv?e unavailing. Maj. Augur has issued the following order, addressed to the Provost Judge in this place : No colored men will hereafter be whipped under any law of Virginia, within the limits of this Department The Provost Judge will notify the proper civil authorities to this effect, and it necessary he will call upon the Post Commander of the city of Alexandria, Va.; to prevent the infliction of any such punishment.
