This variety of crops will give steady employ ment to the laborers, who should bo encouraged to be constant and contented with their homes and their families to be made comfortable and required to give a helping hand at all times. It is to the mutual interest of owner and em ployee to do so, to keep up proper discipline and to see tbat o . idiers or loiterers are allowed ! whL? t !?rm duriDK *ork hours . wo sl?ould aim to diversify crops we should be careful not to undertake unsuitable crops, or stock breeding, never eogagiog inanv thing simply because others are doiog so who may be very differently situated. Some should raise tobacco, whist his next neighbor probably nSli *!? rbeat 18 a cr?P f'or rotation after oats, and oats after corn, and thus made more necessary than desirable as a paying crop with Western markets opened upon us. Clover is an improver, aud will mix with orchard gras* or may be sown alone, and the land soon to be broken up, improved, cultivated a year or two in other crops, and back to clover again limothy as a meadow grass on suitable lauds, is valuable for hay, but is an exhauster of land* s too late ripening to mix with clover for hay to an advantage. Roots of the turnip species are of great value in winter for stock wbeo green food is not to be bad. Cattle, sheep and swine of careful selections rom breeds adapted to the locality, and well I t for acoordloS. ^ the season, will be valu ab e to those so situated as to rear them ad vantageously, affording au income to the farm er without dolrimcnt to the land; and often their glean.ng of the fields is of decided ad vantage, especially with sheep; still farmers had better destroy their flocks than to ?raze into the ground youog grastes. When hay is the crop, what stock they may advantageously use six months of the year, thfy may have no place for in pasture- mouths, aud should sell off in spring iq some lorm. There is a rapidly in creasing interest spnugmg up in sheep, and as ar as farmers are situated to raise them let them do so, aod let there be fifty where there ia one, and let our people encourage the use of mutton in lieu of Western bacon. Each farm or has a share of waste, gleanings, garbage, j , to support his shoats; then the grass and harvest ficla till corn is in the roasting ear stage, whou it is cheap food to feed it whilst the stalks and fodder are green enough to be eaten, the latest corn to be used last; then an ar^f ^towa H irar ?l'd ^ a?d U*,Wards arc iat towards December; and with judi cious curing the bacon will justify an average ' .CoDts or. moro for pork, and it wiil be l\i f ?,me made ^cat, instead of probably fcd hogs of Western distilleries, slaueht er-pens, and other filthy deposits of food for fewi ne. The breeding of horses is of great import ance, and much is to bo considered?to what extent and the kind that should be bred In stead of sending our money to the West for pampered horses and mules, let each person attempt to raise their owo animais, selecting females with a view to use aod breeding. The col s are raised with but little perceptible cost and from two and <*i?lf years ol^by careful use, they may pay for their food; and then in wTOiST are probab,y wantcd at All this requires thought and attention, aod he eggs being well divided in a number of baskets, their results come in like mixed crop at a timely hour peculiar to them, and through the year there is a fresh and varied occupation for each one on the farm. ojock can be increased rapidly, and if good kinds, the whole surroundings improved ? and here is no section above tidewa?e? fn which is line of policy can not be well followed CVv5i!?i t'dewater districts. In the case in question a suit for damages was brouKhi by a woman who had been severely burned by the explosion of soino so-called uoexplosive oil, against the grocer who had sold her the arti cle. The grooer in his detence pleaded that ho really believed the oil to be uncxplosive, and that it had been carefully tested by chem ical experts and declared to be absolutely tree Iruui all explosive properties whatever.
