[Reported for the Alexandria Gazette.] The Woodlawn Farmers' Club met, according to adjourameut, at Bay View, the residence of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Roberts, oo November L'6, and was call? ed to order by President E. E. Mason. The minu'es of the October meeling were read and, with a blight correction, approved. At the request of E. E. Mason th secretary read from the November number of Success an article by Wm Cook, president of the British aBSOcia tion for the advancement of science, on the probability of a scarcity of the wot Id's food supply. The article was unique and the discussion which follow ed the reading brought out some cu rious facts and some of the members ex? pressed the opinion that fifty years hence our met nods of agriculture will be looked upon as primitive as we consider the methods of colonial titnef, The prospective milk trust in the DI trict of Columbia was considered at s^me length and it was the general opinion that it would amouut to notb i K Janus Roberts thought that though on general principles we'consider trusts as uetrimental to our interests yet the oil trust a?d sugar trust, the two larg e t of such combinations, have done more tbau anything else to cheapen those two products. The secretary introduced the subject of rural free mail deiiv.-ry and read a circular letter lrom the PostofEce De partment. 8omeofthe main features of the subject were discudded, but the club did not seem ready to take any positive action. Planters' Hotel, strolled out to Forest Park, where be was later found uu toe eanu day badly wounded with a bullet hole in his head and a revolver lying beside him. It was apparently a case of sui? cide. In Duckworth's pocket was found a card bearing these wordK "I am Ed? ward L Dollirg,of Terre Haute, Ind. in case of accident?" Dolling, it appears, was a that time wanted for embezzling $30,000 from a bank in a small town near Terre Haute Ind. He disappeared about the timc? e wrote the letter to Duckworth, making the St. Louis appointment with the lat? ter. Dolling and Duckworth, who were not acquainted personally, resembled each other to a remarkable degree. Duckworth was decoyed to St. Louis by Dolling and fatally shot, a card put in his pocket with the latter's rime on it and the wounded man passed off on the police and the public as the missing embezzler. Duckworth was taken home by his sister, Mrs. Eva C. Hutchinson, of Hutchinson, Kas , he having revealed his identity. The wounded man denied Story of a Slave. To be bound hand and foot for years by the chains of disease is the worst form of slavery. George D. Williams, of Manchester, Mich., tells bow such a slave was made fres.
