Quakei-town, Pa., Aug. 9.?Alleging! that he had threatened to poison the { water supply of Quakertown, as well j as to blow up the town, Leopold' {Weaver, 51 years old, an unnatural-1 ized German, living near the Quaker-' town reservoir, two miles from hero, was arrested yesterday by Police Chief Harry Rhoads, who is conduct ing an aggressive campaign against pro-Germans in this vicinity. Chief Rhoads long has been gath ering evijence tending to shew Weaver to be a pronounced German sympathizer. Weaver has been in this country about 15 years, but has not taken out citizenship papers. While he denies the charges, he is being heM at the local police station pending the j arrival of representatives from the j Federal authorities in Philadelphia. Jj Big Increase in Cottage-Cheese Sales, j Reports from our western cities j where cottage-cheese campaigns have \ recently been completed show largely increased sales of this wholesome meat substitute. The following in creased daily sales are recorded: Salt Lake City, Utah, from 375 to 850 pounds; Spokane, Wash., from 100 to 1:S00 pounds; Seattle, Wash., from 1,115 to 1,675 pounds; San Francisco. Cal.. from 393.5 to 1.624 pounds; or j a total increase of 3,969 pounds of i cottage cheese sold daily in the four cities. This is the result of a 10-day cam- j paigns in each city in which the foo I value of cottage cheese and its use in new dishes was demonstrated by a woman agent in dairying and in which the creameries and milk plants were assisted in making cheese by two representatives from the United States Department of Agriculture and the Stute agricultural college. !
