STOLE FREIGHT, Is CHARGE Captured Gang1 Said to Have Got $6,000 Worth Harrisburg, Pa., July 17.?Charged with participating in one of the big gest robberies of freight cars ir. this section in recent years, George Ferry, of Harrisburg, is being held here. The three men are reported to have been in the act of pilfering a car loaded with cigarettes at Ship pensburg th:s morning and to have had other materials in their posses sion of more than $6,000 value. Ferry and Custes were surprised and taken into custody by railroad police while in the act. Taylor, however, eluded the officers, al though struck by several revolver shots. He is said to have dragged himself more than three miles to a farm house and persuaded a farmer to bring him to this city by auto mobile. He was arrested shortly after his arrival. The three men will be given hearings here before Deputy Unitfd States Marshal Har vey Smith within the next several days. t_ TO FIGHT DAYLIGHT VETO Republican Leaders Will Try to Re Enact Bill Containing Repeal Rider Washington, July 17.?Republican leaders of the House, supported bv party leaders in the Senate, agreed yesterday to attempt repassage of the Agriculture Appropriation bill, v/ifell its daylight saving repeal rid er, despite the President's veto. Previsions of the daylight saving law authorizing the Interstate Com merce Commission to "fixed standard time zones, however, would not be discarded under the proposal. In line with this decision made by the Republican legislative steering committee and after assurances had been obtained that the Rules Com mittee would authorize the daylight saving repeal being incorporated in the Appropriation bill, Chairman Haugen, of the House Agriculture Committee, late yesterdiay reintro duced the agriculture measure. Judge Duke said there had been ree trials, with the jury disagreeing ;n each trial, and he d'id not believe there was any prospect of anything but a OTiistirial.
