Bennett, ISI Centre street, left Thursday to visit a sister and her son —Victor W., in Lancaster, Pa. Miss Tillie Wagner, of this place, is enjoying country life for a week on the McLuckie farm, east of Cum berland. Miss Margaret Leland, of Boston, guest of her sister—Mrs. A. Charles Stewart, this place, has returned to her home. Mr. and Mrs. James P. Reardon, of Winchester, Va., were Easter guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Colborn —Mrs. R.’s parents. Miss Minnie Hitchins has returned from a stay of several months with her sister—Mrs. S. G. Hefelbower, Cambridge, Mass. Miss Bessie McGill, saleslady of the Thomas & Brown Company, went to Connellsville, Pa., last Sunday to remain two weeks. William Grimes, Mayor of Carlos, was in town Thursday and reported that Lake Sylvan is still a little too damp to remove to the Carlos site. John Henry, talented son of Ch'arles Henry, of Vale Summit, was here sev eral days to see relatives and friends. John is a rising attorney of Pittsburg, Pa. Prof. George W. Metger, teaching in the High School at Berlin, Pa., was at home with his parents—Rev. and Mrs. G. E. Metger, Frost avenue, over Easter. Mrs. B. S. Randolph, of Berkeley Springs, W. Va., was here one even ing this week attending a meeting of Cresap Chapter, Daughters of the Revolution. Mrs. Jno.Farraday, Mrs. Ruth Evans and two sons—Messrs. H. G. and Wm. H. Evans, attended the funeral of Mr. Thomas Evans, Pittsburg, Pa., yester day (Friday.) Easter visitors overlooked last week included Misses Susan Beall, of the Hannah Moore Academy, Reistertown, and Inez M. Johnson, of the Balti more State Normal School Faculty. Messrs. Charles Odgers, of this place, and William Hendley, of Hoff man, representing Frostburg City Lodge, No. 88, Knights of Pythias, attended the State Grand Lodge in Baltimore this week. E. L. Crum, of Athens, Pa., a stu dent at St. John’s College, Annapolis, spent the Easter vacation with his class-mate, Earl S. Lewis, at the home of the latter’s father, John T. Lewis, Frost avenue. They returned to An napolis Wednesday. . Thomas P. Keating, of Newport News, Va., was here to attend the fun eral of his sister—Mrs. John Coulehan, early this week. Looks well and says salt-water air is nearly as good for health as that which slides over the high-mountain layers. Owen Cooper Hitchins and Rudolph Portalis, of New York City, were-here over last Sunday enjoying the Easter holiday with Mr. C’s relatives. Coop er’s lecture on Lillian Russell was very flattering to that lady’s good sense, even though she is reputably extravagant. The long and short of the story is—Miss Lillian is a good lookinggirl of 56 years, her attractive ness being due to her own intelligent, artistic care of herself, a considera tion in keeping with her leading dress maxim—“dress yourself right, no matter how long it takes; then when you get out into company forget all about it. ” Political Hon. David J. Lewis is in the Demo cratic field again for Congress. THE CHURCHES. #— Rev. T. E.
