John Goss of Anoka came Tuesday of last week to visit his SOD Farnham and family. There were 7 500 Steele-head trout put io the Littie Iowa at the north and south branch Wednesday by C. A. Boy, who received them from the Minnesota hatching station, St. Paul. H. C. Hanson, who will figure in the primaries for representative for the south district, was in LeRoy Wednesday. W. H. Broton, J. B. Cary and Frank Whitcomb were in Austin Thursday. Mrs. H. Garmory of Rockford, 111., was a guest at the home of Chas. Bell last week. Geo. W. Bliss of Austin was trans* acting business in LeRoy Friday. W. J. Clapper reroofed and other wise improved his residence last week. Mrs. J. Lary of Riceville was visit ing at the parental home of Chas. Bell last week. Truman Palmer ton, who has been employed in Minneapolis returned to LeRoy Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Hyatt and daughter, Vera, of Minneapolis are guests at the C. Lewis home for a few weeks. The Presbjterian and Baptist Sab bath schools and all others who wish to join them will bold a union picnic on July fourth. Location to be de cided by the committee. The grounds of Wm. Allen near the rivet are under consideration and will probably be the choice. The annual convention of district No. 2, W. C. T. U. will be held in Albert Lea this week Wednesday and Thursday, June 25 and 26. The LeRoy W. C. T. U. will meet on Wednesday. July 3, at 3:00 p. m., at the home of Mrs. Whitcomb. The town board^met Monday. Frank Hotson is quite sick with pneumonia. Peter Rosenthal is having rather bad luck drilling for Adam Duerst, after drilling about 6a feet the water is unfit for use, and he has to put down another well. We hear that. Frank Blowers has sold bis farm and there is some talk of his buying another in this neigh borhood. We hope he will. Parties who attended the show at Lyle Saturday, say it was very good. Quite a number of our people went to the ball game at Brook's Sunday. Messers A. Hotson, George Howard and Wilber Ames are the delegates to the County convention from Lyle township. Mr. Vinton had new potatoes out of his garden for Sunday. Every one is asking, "what are you going to do the Fourth?"—What is the matter with the Lyle Center people having a good old fashioned picnic? Mr. and Mrs. Kesler and Mrs. Watkins of Austin took dinner with Mr. Vinton's people Sunday. There is a show at Troy City the 30th of June. Thompson while attend ing a patient at Carl O. Braaten's Sunday morning was quickly called to attend his brother who had an accident coming home from the dance •at T. L. Thompson's. Ed. L. Thompson and wife were callers at Mr. and Mrs. Carl Braaten's Sunday. Ed. and Aaron Thompson and Carl Braaten have made agreements to run a thrashing rig again this fall. Miss Maggie McBrlde went to Al bert Lea Monday morning to attend the wedding of her cousin, Miss Lizzie Sheehan. Miss Schneider of Winona, a sister of Rev. Father Schneider, arrived here Monday for a short visit with him. There will be first Holy Communion and High Mass in St. Peter's church next Sunday, June 29. Mrs. M. Barlowe of Mason City is here to visit her sister, Mrs. fi. B. O'Halloran. Mrs. Aug. Vaux and daughter ar rived homeJEriday after a two weeks visit with friends at Faribault, Min neapolis and Fairmont. The Brownsdale party that went .north recently has returned, after selecting land claims in the Hudson Bay basin in Itaska county. Julius H. Wiersig of Oklahoma and Miss Louisa K. Haberkoro were mar ried Thursday at the Lutheran church in Waltham. Lightning lately killed a heifer for Wm. Wachlin and ?a colt for O. D. Lambert. Miss Edith B. Palmer returned Saturday from a week's visit with her aunt's folks in Bennington. The sfehool in the Thompson district, taught by Ml68 Edson, closed Friday. The Library association will hold a sociable at the home of Miss Jennie York next Friday afternoon. Frank E. Wilson's mother of Osage, Iowa, visited bim last week. Laura A Requa went to Hamilton ondayiora visit with her sister, Mrs. Brlggs. She was Accompanied by Miss Andrews of Austin. Samuel McClelland rejoices in the possession of a fox. It got loose the other day and slew eight of his ducks. Light frosts reported Saturday in some localities near here.' Green peas and new potatoes are beginning to grace the tables of Our citizens. The Central Baptist association held here last week was very en joy able. A very profitable program was given and the entertainment for the fifty delegates and fifty additional visitors was amply and evidently highly acceptable. For the Great N. E. She was.assisted by her daughter, Miss Schleiger, the Misses Schroeder, Miss Orth and Miss Isham in entertaining and serving very dainty refreshments. The guests from out of jtown were Mrs Barber and Mrs. Lawrence of Spring Valley Mrs.. Emerson, Mrs. Allen and Mrs. Pierson of Austin Miss Orth of St. Paul. Ausker Myhre is able to be out after his recent severe illness. L. W. Hunt returned from Wash ington Tuesday. Mrs. Rondesvedt is visiting friends here this week. Mrs. Skyberg has been visiting friends here and in Spring Valley the past week. She returned to Hayfield Monday. Miss Klnmore of Tracy is visiting friends here. The very best of gpod wishes are-theirs. Charlie Greening is at home from Northfield. Mrs. Allen and daughters were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Pierson this week. Water works have been pht in the Correll house, the livery barn and Torgrimsen Bros', store the past week. The marriage of Miss Lorena Gladen and Warren Hutchinson took place at the M. E. church Thursday eve ning. The bridal party went directly to the Martin hotel where the wed ding supper was served. Mr. and Mrs. Hutchinson left on the evening train for a brief trip. The Melbourne show was in Grand Meadow Wednesday and quite a crowd attended in the afternoon. John Hudson is having water works put into.his house. VARCO. Miss Maggie Conner attended the Hogao-Cbampion wedding at Cedaf City June 1$., O. Hawkins and wife, E. P. Spooner and wife celebrated their 48th anniversary, June 18th, at the home of the latter. Quite a number of their friends were present to enjoy the occasion and help them celebrate. Mr. and Mrs. SJort Kelsey went to Minneapolis June 18, to visit relatives. Arthur Rockafellow left on the ear ly train Juue 16. for Montana* where enry Eddy is to look at the country in view of settling there. Madge Varco visited in Austin last week. Abe Brooks is working, in Austin, in Hall's bicycle shop. Mrs. Will Aultfather spent several days in Austin last week. O. H. Crown and family visited at J. E. Varco's Sunday. At the primary election in the town of Austin Friday, O. H. Brown, H. S. Boale.'and F. H. Pike, were elected delegates to the county convention held in Austin June 24th. Frank and Fay Pratt started Tues day morning for Vernon, South Da kota. Frank has engaged to help Charley Vail with his harvest in a few weeks. A. A. Hickok, who has been nnable to work for the past ten days or two weeks because of an accident while hauling a log, is about the garden, hoeing and attending to light duties. Miss Althea Pratt, who has been visiting relatives here for the past two weeks, returned to her Iowa home on Saturday There was a pleasant dancing party at the home of Mrs. Blighton onMon day evening. The work on the large new barn which Mr. Shepherd is having built on his farm is rapidly progressing. Mrs. Winifred Parmenter went to the town of Red Rock on Friday and spent the day with her sister, Mrs. J. O. Hill. In the Sunday baseball game .played between the Nevada nine and Varco, the Nevada gentlemen carried away the hurrahs!!!! Miss Mabel Allen of Red Star is &t tenditig the S. M. N. College in Aus tin.
